Inventory Management is Ridiculously Bad

This is one of the most egregious problem in the game right now, but it doesn’t rear its ugly head until you’re in the endgame and consistently farming.

Once you get there though, you’re quickly inundated by aspects, rares, legendaries, uniques, gems, sigils, and elixirs.

Many people are asking for more stash tabs and while that would be nice, it’s only a band-aid solution. What we need is the ability to filter/organize items quickly and efficiently, but these features are half baked or non-existent in the current game.

tl:dr - followed by the long version:

  • add a real search to inventory, stash, paragon, talents, and codex
  • store aspects via the codex/occultist UI and not as items
  • better tool-tips for aspects such as category for imprinted items and how many copies you already possess
  • better or more options for sorting
  • improve itemization and/or give us a way to to inspect and filter easily
  • add loot filter for drops
  • salvage/sell all function for less than ancestral items
  • allow locking of items to exclude from salvage/sell/sort actions
  • increase stack limits
  • minimize gophering between vendors and stash

No Search

How is such a basic function not in the game on release??

This makes it insanely difficult to manage inventory and find items/aspects. So unless you have a photographic memory of your stash, RIP your eyes as you scan every item.

The UI should allow you to search talents, paragon, codex, all inventory tabs, and the stash. A real search, not the inferior keyword search currently present on talents/paragon. Also these menus should have a sticky feature that remembers your searches, so we don’t have to re-toggle “Show my class only” every time.

Aspects

While I’m not a fan of having to extract single-use aspects, I can understand the design choice. What I can’t understand is how the codex/occultist was not expanded to handle the storage of said powers. Even a limited storage of a few copies would’ve be a massive improvement to the current version.

There are no tooltips or UI tools to inform you whether other copies of that aspect exist aside from a time consuming manual inspection. When looking at an imprinted item, there is also no tool-tip to indicate the category of that power. Even worse, there is no option to sort your aspects by their power – a very basic and necessary function.

These issues result in having to constantly run between your stash and vendors and manually inspecting aspects items to figure things out.

Item Affixes

This horse has been beaten to death so I won’t go into much detail. Suffice it to say that having to scan so many items with ubiquitous icons, for randomly occurring stat affixes is not what you want in a 2023 game. Especially when we have to look at so many of them, which are garbage the majority of the time.

No Item Lock

Both inventory and stash should have a lock function that keeps the item in its spot and prevents it from being accidentally sold, salvaged, or sorted.

No Salvage All / Sell All For Sacred Items

Once you reach a certain level, Sacreds are basically just gold/mats. Yet for some reason, i still have to individually click each one. The salvage all rares button is not enough.

There could even be an auto-salvage and pickup feature for < ancestral items that is unlocked via some sort of quest since most people don’t even pick these up.

No Loot Filter

Even Wolcen had a loot filter…

Alts

Alts are the problem cherry on top of the cake we just constructed.

I want to play them but as soon as they get near the endgame and start accumulating their own items, they just compound the inventory issues and instantly become more trouble than they’re worth.

Conclusion

I’ve enjoyed D4 for the most part. The art, story, and combat (when there isn’t rubberbanding) have been great.

But despite being very close to 100 the lack of very basic QoL features is ruining the game experience. It’s becoming harder to log in, knowing that I have to spend a large chunk of my time fighting D4’s clunky UI instead of actually playing the game.

It’s horrible . There has probably never beeen a game in human history where more time had to be spent cleaning your storage /inventory than diablo 4. They basically decided to completely ruin a billion dollar game to save a few dollars on data storage. Shameful!

The game in its current state, with no search, and with inventory and stash space at about 1/10 of the appropriate size is wildly, wildly unplayable . You simply cannot enjoy doing dungeon runs when your inventory is overful before the end of a run and you have no storage to dump items into.

Give us a 200 slot inventory and 2000 slot stash and make both searchable and then you might have a playable video game, blizzard. The current state of the game is beta at best. It lacks basic functionality and is essentially unplayable.
