I had an idea that struck me like a bolt of lightning—it’s brilliant, shining like a star… maybe the best idea in all of mankind history: what about introducing a Samurai class to Diablo 4? Sure, the Barbarian can wield two-handed swords, but it doesn’t quite capture the precision and style of a true Samurai. The Barbarian feels heavy and raw, and focuses on bleeding effects over time.
The Samurai would be different: a master of the 2H sword with speed, deadliness, and style. Think lightning-fast strikes, critical damage bonuses, elegant combos, and even a flickering dash technique—something reminiscent of the old classic Samurai Shodown. We could have some unique katana too for this class. It could be a beautiful and brutal addition to Sanctuary.
Maybe if you didn’t sound like a Joe Isuzu commercial we would read the whole post.
But to respond to the point of the post I don’t think it is a bad idea. I actually kinda like it. I keep getting this image of the monk from D3.
Given what we have seen over the last 2 years this would be too easy to copy/paste and give us nothing new but the name. Implementation isn’t their strong suit.
Classes shouldn’t be named for titles or specific functionaries that operate as part of a hierarchy if that’s not part of the games setting or stories. So, no samurais, no crusaders, no knights, etc. Words that come with a lot of baggage are just silly when that baggage isn’t represented. Who’s your daimyo, your commander or liege lord?
