Instead of forcing us to make new characters, just let us reset our CURRENT character to level 1

and reset our quest progress

this would grant that character access to the new seasonal quests and content.

What exactly is the difference between this and making a new character?

If the world worked with reverse logic this is the way.

They are asking for ng+ i think.

Which Ill admit im not opposed to

But you keep all your items? But items have item level requirements, and if you go to level 1 you have no paragon or skills. Hardly seems like a NG+ to me

What? Ng+ you keep all your stuff and level. They would have to increase the level again though. Dark diablosouls

No, the thread title suggests resetting the character to level 1, so you would not keep everything

Isnt this what they did in Diablo 3, and probably planning for Diablo 4, the rebirth?

Yup:
" After selecting one of your heroes in the character selection screen, you’ll be able to use the Rebirth button, which will convert him or her into a Seasonal Hero, revert it to level 1, and mail his or her items and stash contents to your non-seasonal mailbox."

I mean, it existed in D3. The “rebirth” system. It allowed you to keep your character name + tracked stats (such as playtime, monster kills, etc) but reset everything else back to 0 as if it were a new character. Level 1, no items, no stash tabs unlocked, etc etc

We have only 10 character slots.

You can already do that. Just delete your character and make a new one.
Maybe I am missing something…

You don’t even have to delete your character. You can use the same name on multiple characters.

Nothing happens or resets to your eternal character, a rebirth feature will probably happen for seasons.

Yep, 5 eternal characters, 5 season characters.

And only 10 slots so far.

Although seasons w/ new characters have been the standard for the last several popular Diablo type games I have to admit I am disappointed that a “Next Gen” game opted to stick to the same model and not try something new and inventive.

I understand they wanted to have charged season passes but with two other types of monetization already in the game I feel like they could have passed on full spectrum greed and tried something new.
