Items should not drop with a level requirement that matches your character level exactly. The stats on the items do not increase as your level does, so what is the point? Implement an item level requirement that matches the tier of the item.
For example, put Sacred items at the 45 or 50 that it is and don’t keep increasing the level requirement of sacred items I find because I have leveled. By constantly scaling the level requirement of the items, you effectively kill trading rare items, keeping items for alternate characters, and the ability to give friends good rare items that you find or gamble. It’s almost like you are worse off when leveling higher and higher. Either scale the item’s stats more as we level or set fixed level requirements for item tiers.
Why does a 625 power item have a level 90 requirement just because I found it on my level 90 character?

Agreed. It’s an awful system, and needs to be changed.

Yeah, I feel like this is a big issue that most people aren’t mentioning to the devs or the devs are ignoring it. It really sucks a lot of the fun out of the game. I’ve always enjoyed farming loot to try on alt characters.

As of right now basically the only way to gather gear for alts is to save gear as you level ahead of time. It’s not a great solution, especially because of the way drops are gated by class, but it’s all we’ve got for now.
A lot of people are complaining about it, just not as much as other things like level scaling enemies which is worse than the drops lol

They actually mentioned it in their Campfire Chat yesterday. Basically they said players should be focusing on the power level not the item level and that sometimes lower level items could be better stat wise. So it didn’t sound like they were planning to make any changes to this, at least not now.
Yep, with not much to do for endgame I was looking forward to farming for Alts and trading items to accumulate gold. After I put all the pieces together on this one I’ve been playing a lot less, as to me, there isn’t really an incentive to hit max level on a character from a solo perspective
I’ll let my friends catch up and maybe do some sigil pushing later on, but they’re really missing the mark on something you could do as an endgame activity that wouldn’t take any additional content. After all, this is all you would do in D2 and it seemed fine for a lot of people

Yeah, but it was like they misunderstood the question. They didn’t really comment on why item level requirements continue to increase. They were just telling people to generally look at the item power to see how good an item is. Either that question didn’t really ask about why item level requirements continue to rise or the devs side stepped it.

I believe it was side stepped, the OG bliz move

That’s true. I’m not a fan of all of their scaling in general.
Sacred gear should always just be req. 45 and ancestral 60, pretty easy honestly.
Uniques can have a higher req but it should be fixed

yeah i hate it. its interesting to find a good “twink” leveling unique in poe for example.
not gonna happen here as it is.

Yep, its kind of mind-boggling that they didn’t do this.
specially since there’s zero difference in a 800 power item that dropped at 60 and one that dropped at 95

Oh, they definitely avoided addressing the actual issue, which is alt gearing.
Poizonous is right they did a typical Blizz sidestep where they talk around the issue lol There were a few questions they went off on tangents during the chat.

I think enough of the playerbase doesn’t understand this concept yet and it will become more apparent and addressed in season 2
As they stated, a lot of players aren’t done with the campaign
It’s such an easy fix though. Just cap andestral at 60 level requirement and don’t scale it

This is a huge deal for me, and for players who have jobs/not 10+ hrs a day to make 5+ lvl 100’s. Also a way to turn off smart loot so I can farm for more gear for the other class alts I make would be great.
