When you have armor cap and resistances caped. Nothing should 1 shot you. Ever. Maybe 2 or 3 hits dead but never 1 hit and done, when you have the max armor and resistance allowed.
Never ever? ever ever? If that’s the case why bother building health, or damage reduction, or any of that. Just get rid of those stats IMO, same with fortify.
It’s because there are other layers of damage reduction that the game expects you to have. Having max armor and resistances doesn’t mean max tankiness. You gotta read all the stuff bro.
They can’t actually make engaging fights, so they just allowed WoW devs to put raid one shot mechanics in a point and click ARPG.
max armor and resistances
Max armor and resistances is fine, but why penalties when moving up in torment?
Best is 1000+ armor for any level giving 85% damage reduction but each level up requires x number over 1000. So to go from T1 to T2 you need armor of minimum of 1250 because the level jump in -250 armor.
The battle should go up, the risk should be greater, however I should have to spend tempering and aspects to help my build perform better due to the negative impact of increasing difficulty.
Even if a player can reach god mode for armor and resistances there will always be a chance for one shot you’re dead.
1-2 shots should not exists.
Its too much damage, i have never seen in the ARPG history a success with this way of working.
Being super powerful and killing bosses in 10-15 secs in 100% fine in my point of view tho.
It’s fine in everyone’s point of view except the devs, who as I’ve said repeatedly don’t actually know much about ARPGs and are trying to design it like Raid-Or-Die WoW. It’s the same reason we have Undercity, something as far as I can tell almost no one likes, but MMO brain told devs they needed a raid.
So when they had a stacking debuff (ie, you got hit multiple times), you also complained.
They did take it out. I think you just dislike dying and learning actual mechanics.
Oneshot shouldnt be exist in any diablo games. It needs to remove coz it never been part of it!
I don’t doubt that you’re actually talking about 1-shots… but just in case: you’re not including channelled attacks, right? B/c those have definitely been in Diablo games (think Diablo’s lightning breath in D2/D3).
I wouldn’t know the current S8 bosses, haven’t played yet, so I’m curious.
Actually many boss mechanic didn’t one shoot player, there is small window for player to stay out of the mechanic. Those boss include Duriel ground effect, the mirror beam from Harbinger of Hatred and some of Andariel’s attack. In S6 when the Antivenin elixir was bug with absurd HP, players even survive by stand outside Uber Lilith’s ring of death
One advice on dodging high damage boss mechanic, play with controller in boss fight as your movement will be more agile with the thumb stick than mouse. I really can’t dodge Uber Lilith’s skulls with my clumsy mouse movement.
even with these caps and four levels of damage reduction 80%, 60%, 20%, 20%, it is still a 1-shot.
this is the proudest creation of Diablo 4 developers.
My Barb is tanky af and today I was randomly one shot by T4 Urivar. I don’t even know what killed me.
I think that you’ve never played another Diablo game. Complicated boss mechanics have NEVER been part of the game. This isn’t a Souls game, it’s Diablo. Being stupid OP and easily tanking bosses over and over hoping to get that super rare loot is Diablo.
I’ve been playing Diablo since the first one. And I can tell you, that you didn’t tank Diablo in Diablo I. He kills you rather quickly. Lazarus prior to him was no joke, either. But please do, continue on with your baseless assumptions.
As for D4, it’s a new game. If you desire what was - there’s D2R available. D3 is still played, also.
Learn new mechanics for a new game.
What disappoints me is that there are no changes planned for the sh… immunity phases (!). No changes for harbinger, andariel or duriel. So again no fun with these bosses in S9.
Can you tell us what would be fun for you while fighting bosses?
When you getting around to making a game , you can make it that way.
You’ll get to fight them every season from here on out!
Sure… to be honest, when they die fast…
I don’t like bosses at all in a diablo game.
There are other games for having complex bossfights… World of Warcraft… Elden Ring…
You see the difference between these games and D4?
I will tell you.
In D4 you run bosses 30 times in a row.
It makes a big difference if you have 30 boss keys in your bag or if you have a big epic bossfight just ONE time and than you leave the dungeon and do other things.
All these phases kind of stuff would be okay for 1-2-3 runs. But I dont want to fight 2 minutes in a Duriel fight - 30 times in a row.
