Initial 1min+ freeze on every instance of opening any UI element the first time in Diablo 4

Hi Blizzard Team,

This is a bug report concerning 1min+ freezes whenever I open any UI element in Diablo 4. My system information is listed below if that helps.

Bug Summary:
Whenever I open a new UI element for the first time in-game, the game will freeze for a good 1minute or more for every different UI element (e.g. Settings, Inventory, Skilltree). This has occurred in all 3 betas that I have joined, including the most recent server slam. The load will then go away, but upon reopening Diablo 4, the issue will come back, and I have to “reload” all the UI’s again.

I didn’t have this issue in the beta, but I’m seeing it now. Every time I open a chat, an object with a text box in the world, enter a dungeon or an instance etc. my game will hang.

I have the exact same issue! It’s driving me to insanity and it also gets worse when Alt+Tabbing!

I am having the same issue. I didn’t have a problem during the beta, but it’s ruining my D4 launch experience.

I had this during the beta, but I think it might have something to do with High resolution assets. It didn’t happen when I made sure those were downloaded

To fix this I think you need to lower the graphics down, I downloaded diablo 4 with no high resolution textures, when I looked at my graphics settings I was set to Ultra with most of the settings, I am currently downloading high resolution textures and seeing if this fixes all of the freezing.

looks like downloading the high resolution textures fixed the freezing for me.

To the people above, and to anyone who is affected by the same bugs I encountered in Beta, I am going to assume many of you are running on Windows 10 - my freeze issues stopped immediately once I had upgraded my OS system to Windows 11.

Best of luck, I hope my fix works for you all too.

I have exact same issue since Season 2 (i had not during season 1), each time i open my inventory or open game menu, map or any (even click something to activate), i have 50% “chance” to get a freeze who can last 5 sec but also 2 min randomly (and sometimes a game crash when it last too long).
I tried everything. Lower my game settings, activate/disabling one by one everything in options… i disabled every overlays, i killed every 3rd party processes, … Nothing fixed the problem
I’m on windows 10 so… A game without compatibility with Windows 10… it’s strange if you are right @somewon

I saw someone put forward the idea that it might be related to the Sorcerer. This is indeed the class I am playing this season. Is this also your case?

Exactly this happening to my aswell
i did everyting i can to remove this problem which i realised that this is blizzard coding crash not our foult like gooogle can say update drivers like for real?
What did i tryied {with different time-lapses with weeks months)
I tryei all this: full updated windows, off firewall, defender, i dont have any error in sfc scan, no anitirus n sht who can block someting, drivers updates with diferent versions enabling disabling roll backs etc. Font sizes, auto, custom pagin files, moved from C disk to D, in taskmang forcing RAM propity, lowest graphic, everyhthing. Fullscreens, adjust settings trought drivers into perfermonce, like i dont know how many i did not even forgot mention here, minimum proc state 100, and so on in this 1/2 of tye years struggling with that only d4. No vertical sync also, tryied both ways many times different options anyways and so on NOTHING CAN HELP.

(Win 11 was too buggy, so im using: Windows 10 Pro) now.
Processor AMD Ryzen 7 4800H with Radeon Graphics, 2900 Mhz, 8 Core(s), 16 Logical Processor(s)
Just to note this,

While diablo 4 is open :
Total Virtual Memory 28,3 GB
Total Physical Memory 15,4 GB
Page File Space 12,9 GB
CPU usage at D4 idle 20-27% when start moving ~53% - 74% in action with different graphic settings around.

in the task manger diablo4 at some point uses up to 6gb+ RAM (~2gb off for vram) and the rest ~8gb goes background. This is fine no?

I see the poor network also not couses this. This can have something to do with Crossplay also no…

Feels kind of when opening UI while new players in map is loading: This makes d4 longer to recover from being freeze.

ALSO no other app or game have ever crashed ONLY Diablo4 Keeps doing this like since season 1 first week till now. (windows 11 was bug-lang that time)

My opinion is that sometihng iterractig wrong or taking too much resourse when opening UI in D4. Or its downloading UI then freeze, idk but problem is not our devices or drivers or windows or whatever.

Half years past game STILL CRASHING with time invest to found solution, still nothing. At first was most freeze loadings with latest NVIDIA DLSS option in D4 settings.
Later i swap this option with AMD 2,1 this reduced freeze rate for like 2-3 days.

ok mim tired to fix writting errors…

forget to mention blizz u have to add delay or confirmation [Apply / Cancel] for Paragon board and Skills

hope to get an answer, bye

This can cause chain errors everywhere?

This is back ^^ Jebus help us!

Any Updates on this? these freezes got much worse with the new patch for me. When opening UI and when changing the areas.
