I choose Hellborn, I get Soul Spires, I choose Aether Fiends, I get Soul Spires, I choose Double Elites, I get masses. It gets totally out of hand sometimes leaving you with the feeling that your choices are illusionary.
And like many other people have stated already the gold reward nerf is completely unacceptable. A lot of pc players probably don’t care that much, but for console player it is especially frustrating to use a 3rd party trade website to progress in the endgame with the lack of gold you can earn yourself. There was absolutely no need to nerf the gold reward and it should be reversed. To me, Season 5 was the only season where earning gold felt good playing solo self-found.
Why you have to use a trade website to progress?
You have whispers and can sell your uniques from the lair bosses. That give you plenty of gold.
Beside this, i agree, that the arena is not very balanced.
Without hellbourne and +1 hellbourne spawned, it is not possible to reach high numbers on aether.
No, the amount of gold from whispers does nothing to progress masterworking. And I did 27 whisper caches multiple times now to boost new characters.
And no, you can’t sell your uniques, because you have a constant lack of Veiled Crystals if you want to masterwork gear for multiple characters. All your post is doing is exposing that you probably only play one character and/or have no high masterworking aspirations.

I have several Chars this season, over 20 mythics and most of my gear is 10-12. Never traded, found all by myself or in a group with my girlfriend. Not 24/7, more so 2-3 hours a working day and 6-8 hours on a free weekend day.
Rawhide, ore or veiled is in the 70k+ region. Only obducite is rare, which it should, bcs it is the obvious bottleneck.
But i admit, i’m not angry at the game, if it hits not the affix i want at the blacksmith. I live with the result, if it doesn’t hurt my progress.
Which it doesn’t do in nearly all cases.
I’m out of this discussion! I’m so tired of the perspective of players here who stack materials and don’t even try to double or triple crit gear. Obducite is the only thing you can grind good.
