Whole game freezes up. Have to force close in Task Manager.

Mine doesn’t freeze, but the GPU & CPU temp goes way up during Hordes & Undercity…
Wonder why…

No freezing on my end. 
Same for me. My animations are all still working, but all mobs running in place.
Mine too freeze during hordes, I have to close the game an restart. I upgrade few days ago my 3060ti with a 5070.

Do you see how many monsters are there constantly on the screen? Of course it would strain your hardware, especially if you are playing with a group and or on console.
Just had infernal hordes let me finish wave 10, then I opened the door to kill the bosses, and everything stopped working, my character couldn’t use abilities, my mercenary was stuck near beside the opening to the door way. I could not proceed through the doorway to the boss room. I could run around, look at my map, inventory, paragon, skills pages everything like that, but no abilities and couldn’t use my portal. Couldn’t leave game, had to exit to desktop… Task manager didn’t show anything wrong with D4 so the game didn’t seem to have locked up. I could still see trade chat messages actively coming in.

It’s happening in other content, too. It happened to me earlier today twice. Same issue, everything frozen, more or less. It’s a client disconnect, essentially, since the game loop is still running, but there’s no data being transferred. Could be a client/server bug, or it could be due to a network attack or other kind of network issue on the Blizzard side.
But it’s definitely something that is broken today… or perhaps since yesterday.
still happening…based in NA this maybe has happened once or twice in 2yrs, its happened 6 times in last 24hrs running hordes, pits and even just stood in town. Effects all party members.
No freeze here, but the wave counter stays on 0/10 and the aether counter is completely missing…

I am, and I’m having a BLAST. I just got the build UP to where I need to be.
Just hold 1 button down and…well…that’s it.
It’s about as deadly as Cata Druid but easier to do. (no snap shotting).
@ OP, The only issues I have was the game DC’ing randomly anywhere regardless of what I’m doing. I’m sorry to hear this is happening to you though.
This also sounds like the wait operation is timing out for you.
Step 1: Create a restore point.
Step two: Right click start, Click run, Type: Regedit, press enter.
Step 3: expand your tree and follow it to the end of: computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop
Step 4: In the pane off to the right IF you see: “HungAppTimeout” Delete it.
Somehow this has been making its way back into people’s systems although Microsoft themselves have explicitly said that anything win10 or later had it removed because of system crashes and instability.
