So I am chasing the 750 aether for the final part of season pass and I am having awful problems.
The problem is, the last 10 wave I did the last two waves were NOTHING save one aether fiend but soulspires.
I had done well cranking up my hellborne, 2 surging, one exalted, burning and summoned and I was at end level 8 about 700 aether…
Then soulspire after soulspire after soulspire and by end I had 743 aether… NO hellborne even from the burning rain just one aether fiend and the rest soulspires.
Not the first time either in season 7 I have had complete waves of soulspires, haven’t seen a chance of elite doubled in weeks and those can make hellborne really pop so what gives? And why is my almost 100 glyph’d t4 Necro still seeing very little in loot? I did 5 stacks of malignant hearts, t4 etc and I did not get anything other than a few 1 star GA’s, no mythics and a huge pile of no stars 
As for the season pass final chapter, I have worked out the other two options don’t work, I spent an hour in Nahantu during a helltide trying to get the 250 kills before Hellborne and have mentioned this elsewhere that the system can’t count. Bit fed up, you would think the game with me at top tier gameplay would throw me a bone? The trade is afull of people with 4 star stuff but sadly my one char can’t even get a 1 star… I have bought with cash every bell and whistle for this game and I gets nish…

It can happen. You can still get 600-1100 with spires. Just depends on all the bane/bones throught the process.

Spiders. Its all about spiders. The big ones explode into small ones, very easy as long as your around spiders when your threat pops.

It’s funny you mention soulspires as this particular topic was in the most recent survey they sent out. Let’s just say it was obvious from the questions asked specifically, they know people hate these things.
Also I’ve found this particular objective easier to do in a group. Even if people don’t stay in their relative areas, it’s still much easier than attempting it solo with horrible RNG.

It ranges from 750 - 1200 all depends on what you pick each wave.
Also certain builds are better with bigger ground clearance

Group up.
You can cover a larger area, kill faster, and hit all the events easier. The difference is night and day.

It’s hilarious when the game bugs out and just provides Soulspires.

12 in phase 1, 10 in phase 2 and 9 in phase 3.
Granted it normalized afterwards.
Me and a friend got a kick out of it though.
As for loot - when I stopped I was around 400 Varsh, Grig, Beasty and Zir combined and 100 combined Duri & Andy.
All I wanted was 1GA on Class specific Unique items in the right spot(Affix).
Needless to say:
Zero desired mere 1 GA
Zero Mythics
Bare handful of 2+GA

What makes the spires bad is the monsters become suspiciously less aggressive when you walk into one. Normally everything just runs face first into you then when it’s time to fill a spire meter up they act like they’re timid to step into the water at the beach.
Just make monster aggression normal in the spires and people won’t complain about them as much.
Doing Solo Infernal Hordes/SPIRES
for me is top 4 Most irritating thing I have ever experience in Diablo 4, especially if it’s over and over and over and over again. 
I feel your pain. Although I did end up completing the objective later, the exact same thing happened to me. Had it pumped up with hellbornes and elites but the last 2-3 waves were all spires and masses for some reason. i was totally on track to reach the 750 too. I was so dumbfounded by the terrible luck that I closed the game and came back a couple days later to try again to which I completed it that time.
Agreed spires suck. They slow you down. I’ve noticed as well, when I select multiple " events occur %50 faster " The monster spawn rate drops dramatically. Effectively canceling out those selections. I can get more aether in 6 and 8 wave than 10. That’s dumb. Pile that sh*t on if you do a 10!

i REALLY love the infernal Hoardes! Its by far my favorite thing to do in the game. With that being said: they really need to adjust them as the game progresses. The loot tables need to be better, the drop rates need to be better, scaling should be done (6’s vs 8’s vs 10’s). Most importantly… boons and banes should be changed every couple of seasons.
Boons and Banes are the CORE of what makes the system.
Soulspires, just suck: They slow you down, they are probably monster aggression bugged, they appear WAY too often, and there rewards (boons) are not very good.
My suggestions:
They should always suck monsters toward them first off: not like vortex pull we have a boon for that, but more like challenging shout taunt. A new bane could be made that states monsters that spend more than 2 sec in the spire become fortified and enraged offering more aether upon kills. You either need to amp up the life drain on the soulspire drain life bane or add a tethering effect which increases the aether as well.
