Is there anywhere that has a guaranteed drop of the infernal compass. I opened 11 chest in Helltide yesterday got 1 on T1, is this the best way to get them in game now? At this rate ill never get my gear masterworked. Any other ways of getting these now would be greatly appreciated. I get they wanted to tune them down but this seems really over the top.

They seem to just be a very rare drop now.

Indeed. Weren’t we able to craft these at one point is that gone now too, i couldn’t find it anywhere.

I think the only other way is the dungeon key whisper caches, still some rng though.

I thought we could craft them alongside NM sigils but didnt see it this season - i could be mistaken that it ever existed.

i always pick the dungeon key whisper rewards. so far im not running low in the compass.

You can get obducite from NMDs. It kinda pairs well with the hidden witch powers as you can farm both at the same time

Working as intended. This is how they get you to run NMD. Infernal Compass is a rare drop reward for grinding and NMD is reliably accessible for farming obducite.

  • The acquisition rate of Infernal Compasses has been adjusted.
    • The chance to acquire one from Greater Helltide Chests has been increased.
    • The chance for an Infernal Compass to drop from the following sources have been decreased:
      • Whispers
      • Nightmare Dungeons
      • Lesser Helltide Chests
      • The Pit
    • A new Whisper Cache has been added, Collection Keys. This will include 3 Infernal Compasses and 3 Nightmare Dungeon Sigils.

It seems whisper tree is the main target if it shows up as a reward.

We used to be able to craft them up into season 5 when NMD and Compass used to have different tier levels. Once the world progression overhaul came in season 6 and everything scaled to world difficulty and we didn’t need different tier NMD/compass anymore, they removed Infernal Compass from being craftable.

Also With season 6 changes, NMD drops the item for mastworking as well. Once you hit 60, Obducite starts dropping from chests, events, elites, and bosses inside the dungeons.

They are from the caches you open from the Tree of Whispers.

You can select a Dungeon Key cache, though not every time.

Completing Pit and MND only way to get it drops. It sucks.

Ok I had turned in a slew of these but never once got the option for this so maybe that’s why it wasn’t ringing a bell for me. Thanks everyone for the help on this!

I haven’t had one drop for 3 days, despite numerous trips to the tree of whispers, helltides, bosses, pits and so on

Well that’s a major problem! I think Blizzard has tuned this way too far back then. Especially if you enjoy running the Infernal Horde challenge! Why do they always use a hammer to tune things when a wrench works better!

They had a wrench, but maxroll said to focus on bludgeoning, so they used it like a hammer.

To be fair, they were too common last season. I’d disenchant anything that wasn’t a 10-wave. And they made NMDs completely pointless because you could get far more mats running Hordes.

They do seem very rare now though. I’m not target crafting affixes much yet, but i anticipate some pain when I do start on it.
