audio keeps dropping and skipping … according to task manager the memory usage is way high when playing d4 and so is power usage

This is because of the game’s performance on the system. Its is struggling so hard to play its causing the sound to skip.
Can you please let us know what you are trying to play it on?
Laptop or Desktop?
CPU brand and model?
Memory amount and brand?
Graphics Card (GPU) installed, brand and model?
Type of storage drive the game is installed on? SSD or HDD?
Post those details so we can better understand your situation.
desktop cpu is intel i5 i forgot what generation memory is 16gb ram i think corsair or crucial vengeance gpu is nvidia gtx 1650 i think an asus i just installed a ssd right before the game went live back in april i’m also thinking in investing in a rtx 3060 but if the game is leaking resources than i dunno if it would help dont have any issues so far with any other game so far the ssd is a crucial 2tb nvme
GTX 1650.
Then you need to run the graphic settings at Medium.
Cap the FPS to no higher than 60.
I have a 3050TI in my current laptop. I run it at High settings, 60FPS and it plays pretty smooth there. If I set the FPS higher, then it will present more stuttering effects, dips in FPS speeds and so forth. The display is capable of 144, but trying to run it at that FPS just results in pain.
And my laptop is a 6 core 12 thread i5, gen 11 with 32GB of memory and an NVME SSD.
An RTX 3060 is quite capable of playing this game at 1920x1080 HD at 60FPS on High settings quite easily. May even handle up to 100FPS depending on the rest of the system.
Another thing you might be running into at the same time as your lower end card issues, is the driver problem we are having with the latest two versions of Nvidia drivers.
You might want to go back to a driver from August and see if that helps you.
It isn’t leaking, its consuming. The game is resource hungry, but it is better than it was at launch.
try low settings?
Ulra max everything with DLAA on my D4 uses 23GBs and 18GB VRAM
systems abit dated so u have to use lower settings or it will crash out simply put once everything hits max and your Audio SKipping etc is CPU Being overworked and cooked
Also make sure your power supply is rated for the system. A system like yours with a 1650 card would need around 500W or so. The same system with a 3060 would be okay on the same amount, but better on 600W or so.
And make sure that you are matching the power cables to the power supply. If it requires an 8 pin connector, make sure you are using an 8 wire cable to power it, not a 6 wire cable pretending to be an 8 wire cable.
Those series of cards typically have either 1 8 port connector or maybe 2x 6 port connectors.
And if it has more than one connector, you use more than one cable. One cable to each connector. No piggy backing.
i think its set to medium what about the audio dropping or skipping?
Having it set to medium is one part of it.
Is the frame rate capped to 60FPS?
Are you using Nvidia Reflex? If so disable it.
Is peripheral lighting enabled? Disable that.
Have you tried disabling both options for Cross Play under Network connections?
Have you checked your windows updates under Optional for any updates for your sound card? Most systems use Realtek chipsets, so look for that under optional updates.
Or, visit the manufacturer of your system or motherboard for audio drivers from them for your hardware.
i didnt check the network connections for crossplay ill check i only play on pc so no need for playstation or xbox i check windows updates pretty regularly didnt see any optional dont think im useing nvidia reflex not sure what that is … as far as fps cap i didnt cap anything unless by default its capped ill check again
Well the cross play features covers two aspects:
Disabling the first prevents you from playing with those on consoles.
Disabling the second prevents you from in-game chatting with anyone when playing from a different platform or different game.
Nvidia Reflex is an option to lower input latency.
I have in-fact re-enabled this on my laptop, after making some other changes revolving around the newest driver without having any issues so far. But I haven’t heavily play-tested it either.
