Incursions are boring

Three super spongy braindead bosses, and that over and over again?

People wanted bosses that don’t die in 1 sec, now we have this

I don’t mean to sound like a parrot, but I called that too. Killing bosses over and over was already mind numbing… it didn’t need a whole season dedicated to it.

To be fair, I haven’t tried s8.

I played for about an hour. You are so far not missing anything.

Killing bosses over and over again was only tolerable because they died fast. This here in S8 makes me want to log off.

S8 is a new low.

There was massive feedback on PTR that these were boring and unrewarding. Their response in the campfire was to add a whisper and then recommend we only do the activity when it had an active whisper.

lol, ok. didn’t follow that.
so blizzard knows incursions are boring and basically tells us to not play them. rich.

S8 is a test run of new MTX model. That’s what most of the brainstorming went into. All hands on deck.

have they tried, you know, making the game fun?
so far the season is a boring slog and i’ve logged off.

I logged off at level 13. I’m already burned out…

If I get up one morning and throw a basketball from half-court & miss the 3-pointer & go home… I tried.

Language is key in untangling this mess. What they’ve done is allocate most ‘resources’ in buffing the expansion (what they consider buffing, mind you)… ‘fixing’ lingering problems with the core gameplay (will continue to be #2 priority)… buffing the MTX… and reskinning & reshuffling things to call it a season… in that order.

Marketing is also a big priority - especially reading between the lines in Gibson’s Rhykker interview: they’re buffing and buffing those expo presentations 1+ year in advance. The devs probably aren’t too hands-on in that (who the hell knows) but it’s ‘resources’ in some fashion. The success of the next expansion, like the last expansion, will ride on expert marketing more than content. I’m pretty confident they’ve decided this already.

I Played a few this morning, I think they are fine as a collect all the powers phase while leveling but yeah, I am kind of already over them after a couple hours.

I was hoping the ACTUAL end game bosses would replace them and that we could get an elixir that would allow spectral ash to drop from anywhere while under its effects.

All in all I have played D4, POE2 and LE… by far D4 is my favourite and I think very close with its game design.

Yes, extremely boring, no effort or care was put into designing a fun seasonal activity. What a shame.

I am hoping the ACTUAL bosses deliver on that.

dude, they’re all recycled. it’s nothing new.

OH, I thought they added extra abilities and rebalanced them into like a ladder system my bad.

A fun boss in D4? (Besides Lilith DDR routine.) What does that even look like? Serious question… any examples?

Mobs are not fun in D4. They might’ve been sometime, but if so, something happened to them. Only controlled swarms are sometimes fun - but in a Dynasty Warriors sort of way. I suppose the Fell Council can sort of approach fun, but I think even they’re faking it somehow.

Memories of Diablo 2 suddenly flood back into my mind…

A fallacy.

There was no good reason - especially as a solo player - to skip other bosses (pick a fallacy - Mephisto? Baal?) or skip doing a sweep of champion/elite mobs.

D4 is inverse of this… there’s no good reason (other than forced gauntlet) to farm anything other than specific bosses (after mats farming). They’re trying to undo this obvious flaw by forcing a boss gauntlet - but that’s what that is, a patching of a design flaw.

To be fair… that design flaw was inserted as a kind of ‘placeholder endgame’, in reaction to complaints about no endgame, early in the game’s history. Improvisation all the way… no long term planning.

Can I ask then the reason for making runs of Mephisto or Baal?

(If what I’m asking doesn’t make sense, it’s because I didn’t understand what you said.)
