Currently we can only see maximum 8 buff on character status hud, this make it difficult to test our build in dummy room when we have more than 8 buff. We have to open the “Stats and Material” UI so see those hidden buff status and make testing less efficient. This affect controller player more than PC as in controller there is no way to open the “Stats and Material” to see the status buff while attacking the dummy at same time.
The 8 buff limit also affect the game play, when we already have 8 buff status, some important buff status like protection shrine timer will not be visible. This make it difficult for us to know when the protection shrine will expire. I cant play more aggressive in difficult dungeon like PIT without risk of getting killed when the shrine expire while I am in the middle of large group of T200 monster or stand on the ground effect.

Bump, UI needs serious help per Buff Bar presentation and Buffs gained “fly outs”.

I’m experiencing the same thing… I need to look at a timer to see when i will overpower but it’s almost alwasy hidden behind another buff so it’s hard to play. I think some of these buff should not be there like. Maiden Buff, Team xp buff, Goblin buff, potion buff, mindcage buff, inscence buff and maybe these should all be lfindable somewhere else in the screen or grouped. They are not really important and build related so why put them in first plan? We know we took a potion or an inscence and can look at it somewhere else if we need so it would let more space for important buff in the screen. Else, make more than 8 buff visible.

Just bumping because this needs to be seen. Buff bar cap has been an issue that seems to go ignored for the last several years (Since D3 from my understanding).
Heard good things about the game recently and decided to give it a go. Tried out a Druid build that revolves around Hurricane/Werebear. Get 16 stacks, use hurricane that becomes overpowered. Only issue is that the entire build revolves around that 16th stack which I can’t see most of the time. Borderline makes the build unplayable and I really don’t feel like peeling through multiple builds just to see which ones I’m more or less allowed to play. Or I just count to 16 out loud, but who tf wants to do that?

actually UI needs a big revamp. besides the much needed buff icons not appearing.

Personally I think they should remove the newly added pop up icons of the items we pick up and move all the short term buffs and debuffs to there.

It should definitely be expanded and we should have an “edit” mode where we can select which available buffs go in which location on the buff bar, so we can have the most important ones at the front etc. and will always know where too look.

How has this still not been addressed. It makes playing certain builds untenable. It’s been over a year. This is as basic/fundamental as it comes, come on Blizzard.

Bump again.
Finding it increasingly annoying to glance down to active buffs/debuffs during the heat of battle for a tidbit of info that would help me but… NO… only showing me SOME of my current buffs/debuffs.

Yep, still another useful combat QoL that has yet to be touched upon for over a year. Cool, Runewords, so yay a more cluterred buff bar for more power for the nth time.
Good luck to everyone who has builds that had 12+ buffs before 2.0 patch!
Can a Dev comment on the current status of this problem?

I’d like the ability to move it to the top right like WoW

I also want some form of analytics. How much dps did I do. Which skills made the most dmg…etc etc etc.

You should separate the longer bonuses, such as events, profane minds, potions, incense, etc. Create a space further away for this since we look at them less. Oh, my potion is finished, let me drink it again. That’s not very useful.

Wow, can’t believe this bug is not fixed yet… why not display the buffs on 2 lines if they don’t fit on 1? This is like a maximum of 8h of developer hours + QA testing.
Bump again. Still need more on the Bar as the potions, incenses, opal and runes now eat up basically a full bar, with a rune or helm taking the last 2 and going into another bar. Just fly out the second bar further to like 20 with the 8 below it. Or give us the ability to uncap it and see everything and disregard the mess. Need to see the skill cap counting to know when to do the rotation and its covered.

We don’t need more rows on the buff bar, we need certain buffs moved off of the buff bar.
The following really shouldn’t be on the bar at all as there are other UI options available:
- Party member EXP boost (should be part of the party UI)
- Blood Maiden loot boost icon (this should be moved to Helltide UI)
- PvP zone buffs/debuffs (should be part of the PvP UI)
World of Warcraft has what is known as a “spell alert” function wherein certain spells or abilities will pop an icon above and/or to the side of your character. Diablo 4 could make use of a similar system by letting you choose which abilities to set up this way, which would then make those abilities not show up on the buff bar. A good starting limit to test with would be the ability to select up to three of your class specific skills to trigger the spell alert system rather than a buff icon.
A good example of such an ability or passive is the sorcerer’s Enlightenment passive. When shown as a spell alert, the icon for building up stacks would not show at all (it really shouldn’t be needed outside of very niche scenarios) and the actual Enlightenment buff itself, the ten second one that gives you boosted attack speed/regen would appear above your character’s head. Tal Rasha’s buff is a good candidate here as well as it would make it so you didn’t have to constantly look down at the buff bar to see how many stacks you have. Ultimate skills with limited time buffs are also good candidates for a spell alert effect.
Additional QoL for the buff bar could come in the form of pulsating the buff icons when they’re nearing expiration. At 30 seconds left it pulsates slowly. For 10 seconds or less it pulsates more quickly, but not so rapidly it becomes an issue. WoW uses this type of system for its buffs. The pulsation would only be enabled for buffs that last at least one minute to avoid too many pulsating icons from being onscreen at once.
There is also room on either side of the buff bar rows for another buff icon, allowing a total of twenty icons vs. the sixteen we have now. Combine all of these changes and there is no need for more rows.

(playing on console)
I hardly ever post but I agree it needs to be reworked. My example is my rain of arrows rogue, I want to make sure I have three stacks of precision before I use my ultimate, but sometimes it doesn’t appear because there are too many buffs or it’s smaller and I have to walk up to my TV to make sure. Which kills the flow of playing endgame quickly and efficiently.
I’ve tried timing it out and making sure I cast one then the other, but when I start firing multiple per second I lose track of it.
I think having an option to have one of your buffs be larger and pulled to the side (near party members) would be amazing. And let the player pick the buff.
Edit: sorry I didn’t realize I necro bumped this thread, it was the top one that appeared in Google search
