Hello,
I am not sure if I would be happy. Frankly speaking, besides leveling ( 1-60 lvl +/- ) the game feels damn bad while I am grouped up. There are many mechanics that does not incentive me to play in a group ( mostly on kill mechanics + when you crowd control enemy etc. ). Simply said, while playing in group, my character feels broken and it is not fun to play.

But why not, to have the option is always better

PS : I am kinda wrongly assuming that 4 members group have something to do with the game being for consoles too. I kinda hate when PC games catters to console, Diablo 4 feels more like a console game ported to PC.

Have a nice day.

It was a huge disappointment to discover the party cap was 4, it feels wrong.
It felt bad in D3, and it still feels bad in D4. I played a lot of Diablo 1, 2 and 3. Basically we need what was the best of D2 and D3, instanced loot with a party cap of 8. Many parties would not go up to 8, which is fine, but for my friend group, and clearly others by the existence of this post, having more than 4 people in one party is a big deal.

Sorry too many stashes for me to load with party of 8.

not to mention why would you need 8 ppl in a nmd? no point. you can have voicechat set to clan instead of party. no reason for more than 4 in party

If you don’t want to group with more than 4, that’s fine, no worries. The great thing is that you being able to group up to four is handled by the cap being 8. Which is something that me and other people want. Even if the group benefit (xp, loot multipliers, whatever) stopped scaling after 4 players. The point is to have a shared experience. If we just wanted to chat we’d sit in a discord channel.

Consider a scenario where you have 5 people total online, now you have one odd-person-out or a group of two and a group of three… If the cap were 8 and you have 9 people now you can have a party of four and a party of 5, or however it makes sense to split up. Yes the clan chat is a nice feature that I wouldn’t want to see going away. But the cap of 4 feels bad.

I’d bet money that increasing the party cap size would help build the hype back for D4 as well as increase the longevity of the game by improved player engagement and interest.

I also really feel that increasing the party cap would boost player engagement and time in game. More than once, myself or someone else has had to experience the letdown of coming online for a planned D4 session and being the odd (5th) player out. It also takes away from the experience when you know your one buddy is playing alone.

Please bring back party sizes greater than four!

I think part of the problem is the zoom level and how much screen space 8 characters would occupy. I mean I realize its not like all 8 people would be on the screen at the same time all the time, but when you were all together it would feel very crowded in a dungeon (IMO it already does sometimes with just 4)

This is not a complaint about the zoom level in the game, I think its fine as is but just wouldn’t work well for groups of 8 in dungeons.

party cap of 4 is pretty much the basic cap for any game nowdays and its the perfect amount imo

Thing is, no one is stopping you from doing p4. But >p4 is currently not an option, which many people think feels bad. We want p8. Often there are friends left out of the party play experience with the cap at 4. Allowing >p4 means that you can play with fewer without issue if that is your preference. You can also play with more. It is a superior design and fits with the gamefeel better in this peristant world to allow larger groups. We can encounter up to 12 people in the world, so it is certainly not an issue of being unable to share traffic. It’s another arbitrary design decision that was inherited from D3. There are other examples of poor design decisions that they are taking back such as teleporting outside a nightmare dungeon from the world map (now you can port inside). The size of your party obviously needs to have a limit. However, in the world of D4 it feels wrong at 4. The open world feels at odds with the party cap of 4. We have more playable classes than party slots. What about adding new classes down the road too? For an online only game the social aspects are among the core values required to keep the game going. With all of the voices calling for a cap increase so they can improve their social interractions it is utterly absurd that people poo poo it, and that Blizzard has neglected to acknowledge the party size in their latest dev streams. Restricting party play for these groups is going to drive them and their friends to other games, making D4 less populated. Obviously I want D4 to succeed or I wouldn’t write so much on this. Even if p8 is suboptimal for progression, that would be fine if people are going to be sour on the change. For the people who want it, it’s not all about big numbers in stat sheets, it’s about having a good time with friends. And no, chat alone doesn’t cut it for those who just suggest clan chat or discord.

Blizzard cant even balance 4 player groups.

i disagree. i think 4 feels perfect.

Theres nothing more fun than running norm-hell in 8 player groups in D2 on ladder reset.

wasnt comparing d2 and d4.

8 people would be really fun, but as usual, daddy blizzard decides what is best for us, even if it sinks their ship, they know better remember that. Also, since the game was created for consoles and ported to PC, everything that console has limitations on, now PC also has to suffer. What times, Diablo ported to PC and now the customers who helped raise them to success are the ones who get slapped in the face haha.

Why cap it at 8? I want to be able to bring the entire realm into my party.
See a random person in town, invite to party.

I dont mind dungeons being 4 person cap… but the could allow world stuff to be 8 players.

Party of 8 would be amazing. Getting the guild together to do a world boss would be fun.
