Incomplete Class Balances Wrongly Create Useless Affixes in New Season 8

The easiest example to show how instead of doing a deep balance in season 8 they just put band-aids, and that creates useless and obsolete affixes again, the easiest example to identify is what they did with the ultimate skills with the caps at 200X damage only, I’ll give you an easy example that I just tested:

My Necro Bloodwave in Season 7 uncapped raise to 728x damage,
with bonus damage when you are healthy and damage when you are fortified, giving utility to those specific damage affixes.

Now the Bloodwave bonus are capped to 200x damage only, did the test and I took off all the gear that had bonus damage when you are fortified: the glove, the weapon, the amulet and the two rings, and I could see that by taking off everything and only leaving the bonuses that the paragon gives me, I get to 340X damage bonus to bloodwave, that is, even by taking off all the bonus from the gear I still exceed the new cap of 200X damage, so you don’t even need to put many points into the paragon for those damage bonuses because they don’t benefit you and become obsolete.

What’s the serious problem with this is that it’s a setback to the change they made to give meaning to damage on Tuesdays, since they had made some of those damage types useful by generating bonuses to some uniques as well as some abilities so that they could serve, like Bloodwave in this case, who benefited from damage when healthy and damage when fortified, now with what change in season 8 they did they practically killed those damage types and it’s no longer useful to put them in the gear because of the hard cap, so now they are obsolete affixes that only waste space in the tempered formula, especially damage when you are fortified, since with pure paragon you easily surpass the 200xdamage cap of bloodwave, now that damage has become an obsolete affix as it was in the past Tuesday damage has returned.

NOTE: I agree with lowering the power of the overpower builds of season 7, my complaint is more about making the affixes obsolete in the process and thus bringing back the damage on Tuesdays.

I mean they set caps on paragon boards for other classes before becuase they were just growing beyond their intent. There are ones currently on the Sorc board that cap at 60x a certain type of element power…and they are hit once you unlock them. Meaning no thought is needed to hit that max. :stuck_out_tongue:

The problem I see is that many affixes lose their reason for existing with these changes, for example the damage when you are fortified with the necromancer is no longer useful, now it will be an obsolete affix and it has a space in a tempering that is useless, it is no longer an option, any other additive damage bonus that gives better values is better.

Oh I get that. It is definitely not an ideal fix, plus I don’t see the reason to keep this illusion that you need to “do something” in order to get the most from it, when it just does it itself.

This is more example of them not really having either full control or understandng to change things to “meaningful”. It’s like when a new person just knows what number he needs to get a value to and doesn’t understand what the original intent was.

The Sorc ones could just say multiply by 60%(x) and leave it at that. Like why bother with trying to make it look like there is something behind the curtain?

I believe the powers will come from the season powers. All ultimates were doing 1000% damage and that was reduced to 200%. They simply decide what it will be. Limiting everything to the same ceiling is a stupid measure. I like double damage, where you accumulate a certain amount of damage and it counts as additive and multiplicative. If it is too strong, it reduces the bonus percentage.
