Incinerate still trash

I was hoping to see a rework of DoT damage but i only see duration to reach max damage buff, but at the same time i see parangon hard nerf on burning damage so its not in this season 2 that incinerate will be good.

No dumpster fire without a fire to start it

Same. Especially since dots cant crit. My thing is, did they nerf burning damage? I cant tell.

Burning Instinct Legendary Node

Previous: Your Burning damage is increased by 40% of your Critical Strike Damage, further increased by 5% for every 20 Intelligence you have.

New: Your Burning damage deals bonus damage equal to x10% of the total amount of your Critical Strike Damage bonus, plus x1% for every 75 Intelligence you have

For me that a huge nerf you lose 30% total critical strike damage, or maybe i don’t understand it right ?

Its one of us thats misunderstanding and i hope its you, lol(fingers crossed). Wish they would just be clear so theres no confusion.

Was just about to make a post about this.

Like am I missing something, because that sure looks like a pretty steep nerf for a build that was already severely underperforming like WTF ?

I would politely remind you that in the Dev stream 1, incinerate was on a like a full 10 seconds in a demo video and still couldn’t kill anything. Presumably they were in a post patch environment…so…yeah…Incinerate remains a 101 lesson on challenges for both D4 as a game and Sorc as a class.

I’ve been scratching my head on this one for a minute and all I can say is the math isn’t matching but this is the treatment I’ve come to expect for sorc

It is.
The moron calling themself a dev in charge of this class shouldn’t touch the gaming industry

All the hype is gone , burning dot prob still trash build for sorc

All Damage over time builds got buffed but indirectly, since they rebalanced all monsters to compensate for the Critical+Vul nerf.

The damage is the same, but it is more effective now.

They probably nerfed mob HP by like 10%. Will hardly make incinerate a powertank build. I doubt it will even be enough to offset the loss of the barber LOL

The major problem is that when incinerate is channeled you can’t proc enchantement skill like frozen orb to proc vulnerable on enemies and even that in for a few second so yeah the reducing duration to have full power is good but that will not solve anything and Burning Instinct nerf make Incinerate nerf, also since the unique wand Flamescar is bug (projectile focus object but not monster first) and the damage is low as F…

We don’t want it to be “meta build” we just want it to be good like they have say in the stream have balance range between everything but Incinerate is even bellow their so called range, its the most Trash tier skill of sorcerer and they just don’t even want to buff the base damage…

Think the previous might have been addative to the general bucket, while the new one is multiplicative.

Let’s imagine random numbers like 800% in the damage buckets that apply for average burning and 400% crit dam.

So here it goes. Previous was increase was (800%+400%*(40%+40%*5%*800/20))/800%, which equals to 1.6x damage.

New one would simply be 1+400%*(10%+800/75/100), which equals ~1.8x damage.

Hence overall a minor buff, but points out a huge problem with how damage is calculated in D4, as there is no way an average player could calculate this out as they’d need a detailed knowledge of background systems that are never explained.

Yeah, but Incinerate still burns through mana like nothing else. Wish they would fix that damn passive or at least reduce the base cost by like 2-3

Sustain it is very easy with it end game that not a problem at all, more like a problem is that you have to channel it much longer since you deal so few damage so yeah the mana regen is anoying in some case but with Prodigy Aspect on ring you can sustain it.

Still think my ever popular ice bomb build is going to remain the best overall sorcerer build. It’s just too versatile.

The worst thing about conjuration and builds like firewall/meteor is the wasted damage spread out where there’s no enemies, or they die too fast to matter for the triggered effect.

Lightning has some good builds too, but I just personally dislike the playstyle.

Implementation and controlling the variables in MMOs and ARPGs, MOBAs etc are almost always some of the most important things to consider when making builds. Especially if you are playing a main DPS role in your group.

I think a hybrid DPS off tank in a group building towards being nigh unkillable with all the seasonal ways to get health combined with the innate fire regen passive, and adding in at least two conjurations is going to be a viable group build.

Similar to the way you can play a blizzard/spike build, which is my second favorite combo and tweak to my core builds.

If you get the rare poison items (Andariel’s Visage), and add in the new seasonal one iirc, you can do some crazy stuff. But the odds of you getting that in a season are very low. Which in my testing has shown a way for a few classes to get some insane DoT combos. IF you get the items.

Late season the person who cab get all the items to stack as many different damage source DoTs as possible is going to discover the strongest class specific seasonal builds.

Dot damage changes, and coefficient calculations are going to skew builds towards stacking and layering three or more different types, for elite/pro gamers.

yea incinerate still trash after the new vamp power

Nah I been playing incinerate hardcore as my first hardcore character and have been wrecking everything . Level 75 right now , my buddy did ball lightning and has died twice and gave up so I think defensively it’s good and the dps is very good so far

Yes with the rework of monster life -70% its now good, and thanks to X’Fal ring its adding a lot of DPS to the end game.
