In-Game Shop Access from South Africa

I’m having trouble accessing the in-game shop normally, and often get the following error message:

“Tejal encountered an error and is unable to make offers at this time”.

But now, with the 1-year anniversary free items being offered in the shop, it got me thinking. Are the shop servers busy? Or is it a bug?

I was at a loss, and after asking Copilot to explain the message, it gave me several suggestions, one of which was “regional issues”.

Since I’ve previously had access to the in-game shop, and have been successful with purchases, it never really occurred to me that this was a regional issue.

I’ve been connecting to Blizzard Europe servers (from South Africa) successfully since the launch day of Diablo III and have never had a problem before. Also, no problems with Diablo IV since March 2024.

Nevertheless, I opened my VPN and set my location to London, and have now consistently been able to access the in-game shop and have claimed my first two free anniversary gifts.

Only trouble is, my latency has jumped a bit, and I sometimes get disconnected from the game - A problem that is resolved by turning off my VPN.

Here are some steps that can be taken by South African players to bypass this issue:

  1. Exit Diablo IV completely and close the launcher.
  2. Open your favourite VPN, activate it and set your location to London or some other location within Europe.
  3. Start the Blizzard Launcher. You may need to provide your login details again if you usually have the “Keep me logged in” option turned on.
  4. Start Diablo IV, then go to the Shop to make your purchases and/or claim your free gifts.
  5. When done, and you want to play normally, repeat from step 1 above, only this time turn off your VPN to avoid latency and disconnect issues.

These steps have worked for me every time so far. It’s a chore, I know, but it works. However, I’d still like to know why a VPN is required to access the in-game shop when the game itself works simply fine without one?

Would it be possible for Blizard to address and resolve this problem?

lo voy a probar, hace meses que vengo con este problema. pero soy de latino america. no encuentran solucion.

In game shop does not work for me at all. Even with a VPN on missing out on a lot of the free cosmetics and a set I want to purchase but cant because the shop is broken. I have tried so many things to get it to work. GMs of little help. I hope it gets fixed before the season ends.

Did you try completely closing the game and the launcher before switching on your VPN, which should be set to London or something?

No matter what the VPN is set to the in game shop does not work. Going on months now of it not working. Missing out on the free stuff offered in the shop and the stuff i wanted to buy. Blizzard dosnt care. Multiple reports of this issue with no resolution

It would seem as though the problem has been rectified, as I have been able to consistently access the in-game shop for several days now, without the need to first enable my VPN.

Awesome! :grinning:

Still an issue on my end, even in the new season cant access shop, error 333000, and 14003.
