Important PTR Feedback - Difficulty, leveling and paragon

I hit level 60 on the PTR today. I started at level 1 on Hard, immediately went to Expert and upon hitting level 50 I switched to Penitent. After I hit 60 I went straight to a tier 20 Pit and unlocked Torment 1.

Every step of this process was far too easy. There was no challenge whatsoever starting on Hard, and each subsequent difficulty switch was almost imperceptible. As a fresh level 60 Minion Necro I killed the Pit tier 20 boss in about 3 seconds. My pets literally destroyed him. This cannot be. Please make difficulty levels matter.

I’d also like to point out that, since hitting level 60, I’ve noticed how insanely slow the Paragon leveling is. I’m not sure if that’s because I’m already at Paragon level 201, and the speed at which you earn Paragon levels slows down as you level up, or if this is the speed all the time, but it’s way too slow.

Even with the jump in exp from Torment 1 to 2-4, it seems people are going to need to grind for hundreds of hours to earn all 328 paragon points. It would be insane. Paragon points should be earned relatively quickly if we need to grind so many of them.

Thanks for reading my feedback.

did you temper anything? did you imprint any aspects? did you use gems or elixirs? remember when voh launches and its a new season the codex is empty, you have no temper manuals, no gold, no bundled herbs and no gem fragments. i am sure your experience was easy, but it doesnt reflect a new play through

Did you unlock Torment 1 with all those paragon points, or did you try it without assigning them? I’m really curious since I don’t have access to the PTR.

I filled in the starter board only to try and give myself a somewhat authentic experience.

I think everything from expert up torment 2 need to be harder. Leave normal and hard for the beginners. T3 and T4 feel good to me right now but I could see that a T5 is probably needed eventually.

I did not temper at all. I did use the Codex, but prior to making this character I had not played Necro at all previously, so I didn’t really have any codex powers worth using at a low level aside from Might / Disobedience.

The fact that torment 4 “feels good” 24 hours into the PTR is kind of proof of what the OP is saying. Blizzard said these difficulty levels would present a big challenge when switching from one to the next. If you’re comfortable in torment 4 on day 2, that’s a problem.

I feel like levels 1-10 are overtuned a bit but then “countered” with the level up explosion, it may sound stupid but perhaps early tier mobs need be tuned down a bit and the explosion removed

Then at around 25-ish mobs should be buffed again cause IDK why but the game becomes way too smooth sailing until 35… At 45 there’s another gear powerspike that carries right into 50 and from 50 onward is like exponential power up (why have that spike… ?)

b.t.w. just hit 50 and starting my Paragon stuff, realized all this time instead of on Expert I was playing on Hard :man_facepalming:

Yea but I’m using my seasonal character and have 4 Ubers and 2 max rolled uniques. Also to clarify feels good means there’s actually a bit of a challenge.

To open torment 4 is like doing pit 130 - in live the pit bosses despite having alot of dr and life still get 1 shotted. Is that the same with pit 65 to open torment 4?
