I got a little bit hyped up for the season and decided I was going to give hardcore a try. But… I very soon realized that I don’t have anything unlocked. Everything I usually have unlocked from renown in softcore doesn’t carry over to hardcore. And just… no. I will never play hardcore because of that.
I love the idea of there being a race. But at the same time, if everyone isn’t on even starting grounds then that really kills the fun of it. Not to mention that I guess tempering gear is a thing too… so all the regular hardcore players all have the good tempers already unlocked and were able to make their characters crazily over powered for their early leveling content.
I’m not sure if that was intended or not, but only those who knew about it got to take advantage of it early… and if you arent a regular hardcore player you didn’t have the good ones unlocked just yet.
I said forget this… and just went and played on softcore. But that all really killed my momentum and excitement. PoE literally released the best ARPG patch I’ve ever played and so I’m just gonna continue with that.
It sucks man. I feel like you guys arent even getting a fair shot but at the same time… why has nobody thought about any of this? I mean, if it’s suppose to be a race, you wouldn’t start people a lap down for no reason… I had 4 potions on hardcore. I mean you’ve all probably unlocked renown I don’t need to explain what I didn’t have. But I’m frustrated about it. And now I’m playing PoE and making a forum post instead of playing the game.
I’m seriously already mad enough that on my regular characters that already have renown unlocked that I STILL don’t have all the waypoints… or strongholds… like that stuff is boring as heck to do over and over again when they arent changing how any of it works or anything. I logged on and was killing stuff in a helltide for an hour and was level 20… and was like well this is just the game until 100… it’s mind-numbingly boring. I’m sure all the classes are strong and fun to play… but the game really isn’t. Everything I was excited for was totally scuffed. Sorry, I don’t mean to complain super hard so early, but I just want to see it done better.
Do hardcore characters die and go to the eternal realm? I think you guys ought to make so they die and go to the softcore seasonal realm… so literally everyone can play hardcore and if they die they can just res and keep playing the regular season.
I will get around to playing to trying the patch later after I burn out on poe. As soon as I realized you guys wanted me to redo everything for hardcore I was done for. I had no idea it was liked that and that’s a crushing blow for someone at the start of a season when the streamer I’m watching has everything and I don’t… I mean if EVERYONE didn’t have all that stuff unlocked id be totally fine. It’s about everyone starting off on the same footing at the start of a “race.” They just have like a 10 mile head start lol you arent even remotely competitive as a new player at the start of a league. That FEELS terrible. I just played my first poe starting season and they don’t have anything like this… the scion class which is totally different than what is happening here. You literally start the game with 10 skill points wit ur renown unlocked… and the tempering system… like there is so much I’m against for it to be fun. I am not losing my character for something stupid like not having enough potions or something. If I would have realized it sooner I would raced everyone from softcore.
Well i mean work is work lol I feel your pain… but that’s not the same either. Like the game not bad making you feel bad… or maybe it is idk lol but its not the same!
I’m just wondering how all these people survive in life… I work 40 hours, I can’t buy my own food, I certainly can’t buy any fun stuff from the shop, so idk what I’m doing wrong in my life. I’m mad at life, the game let’s me forget about how much I hate my life
It’s like… I got clan mates that have bajillions of gold and full stash space full of stacks of stygian stones and boss mats… And I’m just like…“dude where do u get the money for this while being online 24/7”… I mean seriously, what am I doing wrong in my life.
Buying gold and boss mats is a much bigger problem than people think… It’s not just 1 clan mate, it’s like… All of em… It’s just absolutely nuts… Nice I get to free ride bosses a lot, but I just don’t get it… Apparently everyone has infinite money even with inflation and I’m just losing in life busting my butt
You complain about having to redo stuff such as a 2 minute stronghold and getting waypoints then say you play Poe which makes you repeat the entire campaign and get waypoints. Ok see ya in a week or two when Poe also gets boring playing FarmVille.
No, this is probably a failure of understanding. Pretty sure the OP’s complaint is that HC & SC have separate “unlocked” statuses, not just that waypoints etc need to be unlocked in principle.

The first thing you’re doing wrong, is caring so much about what others are doing / have. THAT thought process will be the biggest roadblock in your life man, good luck.
Pro tip: let people enjoy gaming the way they enjoy gaming. Also, the competitive layer has been a core Diablo feature for about 2 decades. There’s nothing “pro” about your tip.
I’m sure you’ve figured it out already, but the solution currently is to grab those “unlockables” in the previous season, when you’re done with the season itself. Only have to do it once.
I guess I’m just really jealous… I can’t find anything about how to do it anywhere. It’s like one of those “can’t beat em might as well join em” things, but… I have to be lame and farm it and buy from players for absurd prices
