Imagine not having a plate STR class in your game…

do you want to help me out tho?
please help me understand how paladins are absolutely demanded :*

sadly i didnt see a lot of proof for that so far… :S

I want to kill trash and elites and bosses in D4 QUICK! I don’t want to be a heavy defensive class and take forever to kill one MoB.
But this isn’t really about wanting a Paladin for a “defensive” class. People really want to play paladins because they are traditionally overpowered (looking at you vanilla WoW), so that’s what makes them desirable.- easy mode.

It’s strange, but I thought that paladins usually don’t use two-handed weapons. Two-handed weapons are usually the weapons of warriors, barbarians, robbers… in some cases mages.

Problem is Westmarch is on another continent, assuming any of them even survived Malthael. I think I read at one time Malthael’s attack killed off majority of the planet.

if by that you meant a shield-based class
well : there’s lot of game without one.

but if you consider that D1 had one, it was merely a warrior that could wear a shield, much like necromancer can equip one, but nothing more.

As for D3 : if you meant shield-based with skills using said shield : D3 had none until it’s expansion and even then, it was still less shield oriented than D2’s paladin.
So might be the case for D4 too in another expansion after VOH.

It’s not mandatory though.
i mean, i would love something else entirely personally, there’s already a lot of old classes here on D4 (sorcerer / druid / barb / necromancer… and even rogue is mostly a demon hunter renamed)

That’s great but across all RPGs, Paladin is continuously one of the most played classes. There is a big hole missing in the game currently for that style of gameplay. I am actually surprised so few classes were at release. You would think there would be at least 2 more classes represented (Paladin and Monk).

Real men dont need plate armor.

I’d say it needs a little more then that myself, but we do agree it could use some changes in various areas.

Yes I know. There is no problem with that, second expac will probably take us there.

I said IF…

Armor doesn’t matter class to class in this game at all, somehow a cloth robe offers as much protection as a plate chest piece so yea I don’t see the point, can get cosmetics to look the part, that being said remove druid and replace it with paladin lol

Rly depends on the game. In rpgs meta characters tend to be top picked. Obv some ppl enjoy knights or such while others enjoy more magic casting classes.

I would say u feel like that since it existed in previous diablo games. But so were rouge missing in d2 and d3. And amazon missing in d3. I believe its nice that they change things up. I dont think that they will ditch pala/sader in d4. I just think they want to add new and fresh things to d4 first which i believe is fine consider its the first expansion.

Its easier to balance a game with few classes. So im not rly surprised consider its a live service game. It takes a huge amount of work to add one class and balance it.

Yep it’s a design flaw. LE did defenses well, same with PoE.

Capping all resistances/armor is a silly metric.
