I'm really surprised that they didn't release with a pugilist class

The fact that the combat has this feeling that makes you feel like your attacks and skills have an impact and yet there is no pugilist class seems so crazy to me.

I fear that we wont have one for awhile as the next class is like some unholy or cultist variant if we believe what others have found online.

I hope we get a pugilist class at some point as it is really all I want to play.

Something that combos off of its other abilities (including basic attacks) would be a welcome change

Well I’ll be god damned, barbarian isn’t a pugilist class
If a Barbarian isn’t a fighter what is it

I miss rolling a monk too.

pugilist
/ˈpjuː.dʒəl.ɪst/
noun
A boxer; one who fights with his fists.

Barb doesnt really fit this description. Monk was the only class i really enjoyed in D3. Combos and chaining would work really well in the current system.

pugilist
noun [ C ] formal
US /ˈpjuː.dʒɪ.lɪst/ UK /ˈpjuː.dʒɪ.lɪst/

a boxer or fighter

Hey look I can do that too

now explain how barbarian isn’t a fighter, it’s right there in the meaning

They’re going to wait a while then release a monk class for like 20 dollars or something and it’ll make money hand over fist. You get it? Hand over fist?

Also I didn’t like the Monk in D3. Punching slower because you had a 2-handed staff made no sense to me.

basically someone that fight with his fists . (not axe, swords…)
at best : eventually with sharp gloves / pointy gloves (eitherway : gloves items)

which is also different from a martial fighter which may use his kicks too.
a pugilist is the use of his fists only, and in the diablo series they usually uses gloves as weapons. (though they can use staves in the monk case since it’s a monk not a straight out pugilist, but still had a pugilish branch)

And in both definitions the reference is to someone fighting with their hands not weapons.

I can only assume you believe the kick ability somehow qualifies.

You spelled Assassin wrong… ;p

fighter
noun [ C ]
US /ˈfaɪ.t̬ɚ/ UK /ˈfaɪ.tər/
fighter noun [C] (PERSON)

someone who fights in a battle or in a physical fight against an opponent:

OK whatever if you are just going to ignore the meaning of words

and noone is fighting a battle in Diablo 4 got it

well “fighter” is the LARGE term
pugilist / boxer is the specific term
that’s like saying fruits and apples ; doesn’t mean an apple is a strawberry

a boxer is still a fighter : he does fight another boxer but it’s in the boxer / pugilist category as it’s only with fists (gloved or not)

but if you think a boxer / pugilist can bring out a sword in a fight you are clearly wrong good sir.

should be easy to understand, that’s basic man.

Is your assumption here than that the words pugilist and fighter mean the exact same thing and thus one of the words existance is meaningless?

Or just maybe the word pugilist was used specifically as it most commonly refers to fighting with fists…

So remove your weapons and your fighting with your fists presumably

Druid is the pugilist class

how so? they are all pugilists actually. after few seconds in a higher lev nm dungeon, whether you are ranged or not and whatever class you picked, let alone lore etc… means nothing. everything in your face up close, and you hit them closy body contact for ages, screen full of coloured writings in pure 60s batman saloon’s fight way. bam crash boom hit sock. take that. all pugilists. sorcs especially, no matter if you pick them in the ‘freeze first, punch later’ or the ‘electrocute them by punching’ builds (all the whopping two of them, available in the far and deep sorcs build tree). punch punch punch. everybody monks here. all pugilists. sorcs first. punch that. oh soz, i mean, you wanted to electrocute it? nah you have to punch it. you use a crossbow, dear? how cute of you. yeah guess you’ll have to punch em too. enjoy.

I also miss the martial arts assassin. And just assassin in general.

So you’re playing in a fantasy world where you can destroy enemies with fire and ice from the sky, and sever limbs and torsos with swords and axes, and you want to punch things?

I’ll never understand the appeal.

Lol you’re playing the wrong game. That is D3. Not D4.

Claws are not fists.
