I don’t get what all the frustration is about. S8 is genuinely a fun experience for me, I’m progressing my character, the loot feels meaningful, and there’s always something to upgrade.
And no, I’m not a white knight. Check my post history if you doubt it, I literally quit a few months after release because I hated where the game was at. But now? There’s just a lot more to do and classes are actually somewhat balanced.
I’m guessing a lot of the frustrated people either haven’t played at launch, or have ONLY been playing since launch. It’s hard to see improvements when they trickle in, but look at the bucket a year later and it’s filled up some.

This would be your first season with powers then. The problem is that most of the seasons have been the same with powers being the theme. The interface has barely even changed its just recycled seasons. But you are right if you haven’t played in 2 years and come back now there is a lot of new. But if you have played in the last year, not so much.
Enjoy the game, it will probably be very fun for you this season, and maybe even next. But the next several seasons are the same thing with different colored temporary powers. I am not sure if you knew that the boss powers go away next season.

I played season of the malignant as well, but only for a little. At that point I was so fed up with Blizzard that I lost all interest in the game, despite the borrowed power actually balancing the classes that were underperforming.
