I'm happy with the game

Maybe an off the wall opinion, but overall I’m pretty damn happy with this game. Sure the god damn horse sticks on everything, and my barbs got neutered (I am pissed about that) but, it looks good and feels good. Go the demonic feeling like d2, I for one absolutely love the open world as it brings the series into a modern era. Hopefully (and I think I’ve seen one already , group events.) I have probably a 100-120 hours in so far and I love it. But I play this game for the story, not to max my build out ASAP. I have 68 barb and a 51 seasonal rogue.

I just want to say good jobs to the devs, you got some to fix but it is what it is, S1 is really pretty fun to be a kick off season, just fix my barb and give me a colored cursor.

I’m an FPS kinda guy if I wanna play hard, so the PoE spreadsheet guys have fun.

I’ll step off my soap box now.

Good job devs, for giving us a half finished game on launch.
Good job devs, for having a $70 game, with a cash shop, and a battlepass.
Good job devs for predatory battlepass activation UI with no confirmation dialogue.
Good job devs for making 2 classes unplayable for this long
Good job devs for releasing what is considered to be one of the worst patches of all time.
Good job devs for changing exit dungeon from 3 seconds, to 5 seconds, back to 3 seconds for absolutely no reason.
Good job devs for the message of “Please exploit our games because we will let you keep the things you exploited”.
Good job devs for increasing helltide mystery chest from 175 to 250 cinders.
Good job devs for doing the absolute minimum work to release an underwhelming seasonal mechanic that isn’t even properly tested.

Good job devs.

Same here! I have a sorcerer at 88 and my S1 rogue just hit 49. Still having fun!

There are issues but I have played it every day since release minus 1 or 2 days while I was sick.
The game is fun. After a point it can feel repetitive, basically when you have the best gear. But overall there is a lot to do. And if you get bored you can do it on a new character.

True, I do see a point I will get to the repetitive part and back off, but thats what other games are for. Diablo it’s just nice to go smash and kill s*it and just not worry on skiil set. Like I said I play FPS if I want a true challenge. But overall, I mean with it’s faults (and they’re several) but it’s a pretty solid platform to build on imo. I’m not an avid aarpg player, but I also like it. I’m just tired of the devs getting absolutely trashed on for a product imo is pretty decent. Just don’t make it pay to win, and I’m happy.

You haven’t even experienced 70-100. It is atrocious.
I thought the game was fun up to 65 as well.

But that’s the problem. As a blizz fanboy myself, I didn’t pay for or expect a ‘decent’ game. I expected a Diablo game. I think the people that have a problem with d4 know the kind of products blizz usually puts out.

We had high expectations and blizz has failed us miserably with a sub par product and probably the greatest marketing campaign they’ve ever launched. Just doesn’t have that addicting blizzard game feeling.

I’m happy you are happy

I have. I thought 70-85 was still fun. It started getting very grindy for me after 85, which is why my sorcerer is still at 88. There’s really not much reason to level to 100. If it’s not fun any more, then play something else.

TL;DR at bottom

The facts do not support Blizzard having a record of games being amazing at release.

-Diablo 2 had vastly less content at release than Diablo 4 has, and it didn’t get really good until the expansion

-Diablo 3 was an unmitigated disaster at release, also with vastly less content than D4 initially. They projected a 10 year timeline for farming the best gear, and people found broken builds and farmed it all within weeks. Legendaries were complete garbage. RMAH was atrocious. They literally had to fire the game director and remake the entire gearing system. This one also didn’t get really good until the first expansion.

-World of Warcraft hasn’t had a really popular expansion since Legion in 2016. The main reason it was good was that it had an extra year of development due to the previous expansion being garbage which they completely abandoned halfway through.

What Blizzard does do is put in the effort to continue improving their games over time. They have a proven track record of this. Compared to the other Diablo games at launch, D4 has the most content of any of them. They are also continuing to work to improve it, which means it will only get better from here. I just don’t understand where people are getting these wildly optimistic expectations for the initial release, because Blizzard does not have a track record of delivering that.

TL;DR - Blizzard is not known for games that are amazing when released. They are known for continuous development after release to make their games as good as possible.

I like the game too as someone that didn’t really come in with a lot of expectations. I never expected it to be the best ARPG ever and it really isn’t by any means but I think it will definitely be something worthwhile to come back to every other season or so. I can’t say I’m unsatisfied with the 500-600 hours worth of gameplay I’ve gotten out of the game so far.

Some people are acting like they expected the next world or warcraft with infinite endgame but imo sometimes you need to know when to take a break. It’s not normal to just keep playing a game you are getting bored with until you hate it.

My problem is the bashing of the devs. They are not the key keepers of this game, corporate is. Watching Joe with his almost defeated look reminds me of my situations. I;'ve been a tool and die maker/machinist for over 15 years now, I’ve lead projects and knew right offf the bat we were fu**ed from the word go and had to take it. People are saying this is an alpha release, hell no it’s not. It has it’s problems but it hasn’t stopped me personally. I mean I also do work and have a life, and I’d rather get the story then super rush a max level character, but thats me. There was some predatory shi% that is going on with battlepass and blizzard shouldf beend the knee. Season 1 isnt terrible,it’s ok for a kicker, but don’t force people to pay for the first season. I do feel bilizzard despite \their employment can get s*it fixed. I’m a problem solver mechanics wise, while I’m not fluent in code, I do macros for CNC (QBASIC) and understand the logic. Send me if you need a dev bliz, I’ll take a junior position nad help out.

Blizz hire this dude as pr. He is the same clueless as the devs

Thanks for your toilet paper opinion over 2 centts. If you don;t like the game the door is PoE. Bye and F*ck off. And sure hire me I’m pretty f’ng good at understanding prtogramming logic, but aboslutely terrrible at PR. 90 days or i resign bliz.

Also still enjoying it. WT3 @ 48 48 - 50 was a bit of a slog but still fun.

Yea it’s fun so far. The game needs work and the devs have to understand that. But it like releasing a toddler, you don’t know how it can be broke till he’s there. As long as the devs don;t tryh to push the pay to win bullsht I’ll play this game. I do love the story and lore.

something tells me you have blue hair in real life

I dont agree that the devs or Blizz outdid themselves with this game.

But I respect your opinion. Just wish i had a compelling reason to be more open minded I guess. To me, this game is a very clear cut let down.

Diablo games of the past redefined what a game could be. They invented genres, reimagined how people could play together, created game mechanics that no other company had ever thought of before. But D4 is just a rehash of dated gameplay, shallow rpg concepts, and f2p mobile monetization.

This game doesnt push the envelope in any way. Its a waste of a generational entry into a legendary IP.
