I got up to 9 million on an amulet before i just gave up. It’s tough to get good stats on an amulet, not even trying to get the perfect rolls with those stats!
That’s a more viable choice for some classes than others. Others needs to stick with the rare they’ve got out of necessity, no matter how much it ends up costing.
Obviously that’s how it works currently, but we shouldn’t have to throw away an item with 3 perfect gg stats just because Blizzard decided to make enchanting get stupid expensive after a handful of tries.
That’s the whole point of the post. They should change it.
I think it can be less punishing of course, but I just don’t want it to become meaningless at the same time.
The Gold cost Scaling of rolls is out of hand too.
If it’s a rare - It scales slowly. You’ll hit 1 mil PER after about 5-6 attempts.
If it’s an Aspect taxi - 1st roll eg. 148,000. 2nd roll 847,000!?! 3rd roll 1.9-2.1 mil. PER roll.
I just save my gold bonus NM and run them when funds are starting to look low.
I agree it feels bad, but the goal is that eventually you’re simply supposed to find another piece of gear because rerolling your current piece becomes prohibitively expensive.
I’m not saying that it feels good, it’s frustrating and lame. But that seems to be the intent behind the cost getting so astronomically high.
They don’t want you taking that piece of gear with 3/4 perfect rolls and endlessly rerolling the 4th mod until you also get a perfect roll.
Normally you’d imagine there to be some kind of middleground. Going from one extreme to the opposite extreme is usually never a good idea for anything, including this.
But when the game pushes you to either dump or go to the extreme to enchant a “near-perfect item” for hundreds of millions of gold because it lacks a vital stat to make the class function for the hardest content when it has the rest of the stats it also needs, because it’s never good to only have one good stat either, then it has kinda gone too far.
That’s true as well, just a horrible design overall.
I don’t even want a “PERFECT Roll”.
I want something in the ballpark of TARGET Affix. I don’t even care if it’s a minimum roll%.
We can’t even hit a Target Affix because it gets out of hand so quickly.
Edit - Let’s assume I have a very good 3/4.
“Perfect” to me is - I get a usable 4th Affix of X or Y.
I’m broke after 5-6 rolls.
An otherwise GG item I can’t even aim to hit a “Good enough Target Affix” because it feels I’m fighting weighted RNG + and exponentially escalating Gold sink cost system.
You earn more gold by speedrunning Uldur Cave without a nightmare sigil, over and over again.
You teleport out, reset by logging out, log back in, and then run it all over again. You can earn 10-20 million per hour if you push it to the extreme, but I have medical issues preventing me from pushing it to that extreme which I won’t go into in detail.
For the record, they’ve made those items with 3 of 4 stats being right and decently rolled, so rare to drop for certain pieces that it’s not even seen again while farming those hundreds of millions of gold.
Sometimes you might see it on a sacred rare, but then it’s sacred and not ancestral so you’re kinda screwed either way.
Certain things are just simply too rare, the weighted rolls are designed too poorly.
Too low a cost and more narrowed affix targeting like in d3 and it becomes too deterministic. I dont believe the devs vision is to make diablo 3 remastered. However they probably do need to tweak it down just a notch
Again, it’s not about going from the current extreme to the opposite extreme. But it doesn’t need to be extreme at all, does it?
For the record, “just a bit” wouldn’t help at all.
Gold is really easy to get? You get 500k-1MM per dungeon at 100 on average. At one point I had over 80MM without even trying to grind gold.
Pick up every yellow and sell the crap… easy. I do a NM get a full bag… sell at the end only looking at 800+ items …
That would be great if there weren’t only 6 items at each vendor and every vendor of that type has the exact same six items and they all only reset after an hour. Compare that to D2 or Grim Dawn where all the vendors have different gear and they usually reset each time you portal in from another area. The gear and gear vendors in this game need some attention.
I’ve already farmed hundreds of millions of gold. Because I’ve been stuck with items while never seeing the same stats drop again for that slot during this time.
But it’s not about it being “easy”. It’s about it deviating from the actual content of “endgame”, and it’s boring, repetitive, and as you said easy, and it’s just feeling like a waste of time with the way the game is designed.
I want to be jumping builds. I don’t want to spend days farming gold before I can even try something new, just because the gold cost is so extreme.
The moment you feel that, is the moment you should stop playing and realize that your effort, and time wasted, is better spent on something you actually enjoy wasting time on.
I don’t disagree in principle with that, but I want to like this game. I want to play this game. It’s just that the game’s design is so off-putting and meaningless right now, so that’s the purpose of offering critique.
And critique is best when it draws attention.
I want them to fix this. I want them to make a better design for this. Hence this thread.
Only way I found to make gold at a decent rate was with the PVP zones.
For some reason the number of elites and mob density in these zones is off the charts. I was able to farm up about 10mil Gold in an hour out there just selling everything I found.
While I am sure 10mill could be used up very fast rerolling stats… I also find anybody who is trying to constantly reroll stats to be wasting their time. I have rerolled every piece of my gear maybe 3 times tell I got what I wanted… now I sorta just wait for higher level items to drop with better %s… but in all honesty that is just a PURE RNG waiting game.
A reasonable point of view.
