Please please Blizzard. This forum is sometimes a place for useful information, but scrolling past all the troll threads to find good conversations is a hassle.
would love that.
But! as a semi solution, you can use the mute thread option. keeps your page kinda clean =)
Blizzard does not make the forum software. It is made by a company called Discourse who control the features of it. I think Blizz had to fight to get Ignore at all, but yeah, you can’t instant ignore a thread.
You can do what Nyurei said though. MUTE the thread and it vanishes from you list totally. To do that go to the Tracking drop down menu at the bottom of the thread and change it to Muted.
oh, now that explains why certain forums basically look and feel like a copy from one another
Yep, the Blizzard forums ARE all the exact same software build. There are some fine tuning customization that can be set per forum group, but beyond that it is static. Makes it easy to do one software update across the boards.
They can change the cosmetic skins, set threads to auto close, and set the thresholds to meet Trust Level requirements per forum group I think. So your Trust level here is not the same as the Trust level on the D3 forum group. Fun fun.
They changed to this software from a home brew that was wildly different and very spaghetti code. Each Blizzard forum set used to be different and nothing made sense or worked right. Heh. In 2016-ish they started the conversion process. They started with OW in around 2017 or 2018, then WoW in 2018 and moved through the forums. D3 was one of the last to convert in 2019.
Yup, far cheaper to outsource it.
I’d just like to see a return of the Armory. Have sone fun with all the “I quit” and “Diablo is the worst thing since WW2” people that post/play daily.
oh god yea, i wish we had an armory here.
That’s why I never noticed the conversion! D3 was the last forum I used.
Solid info.
I do kind of miss the old forum stylings though. I looked at WoW and Starcraft recently just for fun. Far different than what I remember.
i also feel that the LE forum is pretty similar to be honest.
This is the Discourse website.
One of the reasons they did it, was that they needed to update the forums anyway to be Mobile friendly as times changed. Tablets and phones are commonly used to read things. So, they just plain converted the whole thing over.
I don’t know how much of the newer features they use seeing as their agreements with Discourse go back to 2017/2018, but you can get an idea what options are available.
