I’ll give it a 7 and the main thing holding it back is the lack of end game content and hopefully whatever more end game content they add in the future is not based on a timer like Kurast Undercity or Infernal Hordes. I hate timers, they make me stressfull but the Pit and Hell Tides seems OK, so perhaps it’s about when the time is too short. Who knows, whatever, the score is seven.
~6/10 for now. Im possibly more optimistic than some even though I dont like the current state of the game. It really depends on what they do with it going forward, if blizzard actually looks into some if not most of the feedback here then it could be great. If they continue to appeal to the short term attention span crowd, then the long term player base will all leave (If they havent already) and the game will continue to degrade.
I’d give it a 7, which is good.
To be clear of my ratings:
10 = perfect: Maybe a half dozen games deserve this
9 = exceptional: a couple dozen games over the last 40 years
8 = very good: solid game with something special and new
7 = good: solid game and well executed
6 = ok: i like it, but could be better
5 = meh: don’t really like it but I can see the appeal
4-0 = nope
7 would be where I rate POE as well. I’d give LE a 6.
The game is a straight 5 or lower at the moment.
The progression and combat are good, endgame loop is better, but charging people more money to break the game for a second time is inexcusable. And the reaction from the dev team & management has been entirely “F*** it” post release.
The sheer amount of time it takes to build a single character or swaps builds precludes even hardcore players from enjoying the game, and all but gatekeeps casuals.
Again, I’ve said this a million times, but I honestly have no idea what crowd/demographic they are designing this game for. One season it’s for only super dedicated players with hundreds of hours, next season it’s for the uber casual, next season it’s back to the grind being a miserable slog, repeat ad infinitum.
If the spiritborn wasn’t a bugged out piece of s*** able to walk through all of the content, I don’t think 90% of players would be enjoying this expansion.
Edit: Oh, the game is also unplayable at the endgame unless you use diablo.trade to get what is likely duped gold. The gold you are able to passively earn from playing the game is nowhere near the amount you would ever need to use the crafting system. The same goes for obductite. Obductite is the most boring/worst thing to farm. You spend an hour farming obductite, come out with like 12-15k, and then blow it all instantly trying to reroll your gear and failing. This also eats an insane amount of gold with the 5mil reroll cost.
They don’t want to make this game playable for the non-trade player for some reason. They’ll allow infinite and unrestricted duping, but if you play this game normally, as it’s supposed to be played, they bar you from entry. Makes no sense.
When your crafting system is pure RNG bull$$$$, you should not be strapped for the materials you need to interact with it, ever. Doing 1 IH, which is the best gold farm, takes 12 minutes if you speed through a 10 wave. It nets you 11 million gold. That’s literally 1 reroll of a masterwork.
7.5 From Launch to Season 4 ending , could had been higher if the game high end doesnt felt in open beta with lack of balance and with oneshoots mechanics for kill or be killed . Story and 1st months was nearly a 9 for me .
0.0 From Season 5 launch to expansion and S6 (i left the game at the beginning of S5) . Game is definitively an open beta , 100% arcade , unbalanced and with a DESTROYED Eternal Realm .
The 0.0 is for me the way to express how much i hate this game after they decided to put minion necro on irrelevance after the S4 “good times” that came after 3 seasons of irrelevance too . That moment i woke up and saw clearly they do that in purpose , this will NEVER be nearly as balanced as D3 and ofc D2 . They just want you to play the current thing even if you hate it , so i just left the game for that and many other reasons exposed before .
3\10 the game is entirely made up of bugs. All the studio’s decisions only push players away. Everything has been done to make the game a filler. Moreover, they are trying to turn players’ time into hell, so that they hate this game every minute, so that there are constantly not enough resources even for one thing, so that you spend hundreds of hours getting these resources, spend them in 10 minutes and still don’t get a boost in the thing. This game can be described very accurately by several words - boredom, irritation, hatred.
It seems like someone from PoE has crept into Blizzard and is trying to destroy Diablo as a franchise and completely discredit it in the eyes of the audience by the release of the latter. God, even the fans hate it, how could this be allowed. Now it is still alive because of the newcomers who ran in for 2 weeks of the season. But in December, the Diablo killer will come out and our favorite series will end there. A sad ending.
Played from beta → early launch → season 2, quit before S3, came back for S4 and quit during S5 Beta
Feel like I’ve seen the game for what it is. Collected all the Ubers I wanted, 1shot ppl in PVP, NMD 100’s, forgot what level pit I got to, never did the guantlet, didn’t care honestly
Total score? Honestly… 4, maybe 4.5 / 10
Game was rushed, lost way too many core internal folks who were in charge of the vision of the game in early development, way too many overhauls because it was rushed and member losses. Way too similar to D3 which I stopped playing and not even close to the masterpiece that is D2 / D2:LOD
Game is 2/10, anyone giving higher rate has low standard towards videogames
I give it a 8 on 10. Theres some negative aspects but i feel the positive are way more.
Graphics, combat, music, sounds, world size are all amazing.
