If you own D4 on multiple platforms do you have to buy the expansion twice?

Oh your new around here aren’t you?

I was a dewie eyed moon calf like you once too… let me give you the lay of the land.

Everyone here doesn’t care about your opinion just their own….if you make a thread suggesting anything it WILL get shot down in flames and steaming :poop:

Also never never ever never ever ever never try to make logical arguments that too will be met with a river full off flowing streaming hot :poop:

Hope this helps

Ok…I Bought VofH on PS5 and acquired the pre-purchase bonuses for my WHOLE blizzard account. (Checked and my Wings, 3000 platinum and pets DO show up on Laptop AND PS5 ports)… Now my BIGGER question will be… Come release OCT 8th, will i need to re-buy the VofH chapter on PC just to carry my progress file over from PS5?.. time will tell. At least i managed to grab the early bonuses. lol

When I bought the game for PS5, and then again on Bnet, I did indeed spend double the money. I did realize this was happening.
Now when I play VoH on PC, then boot up that gud ole PS5, I’m thinking I will not be able to play my Spiritborn.

No, you have to buy D4 base game and the xpac to play on PS5.

This is what I had to do.

Yeah I had to log in and make a post for the first time to agree that this achually guy sucks.

I just want to make sure that @bagboybrown gets this so he doesn’t spit venom. So if own Diablo IV on any platform (steam is not an expansion, it’s a platform) when you get the expansion on that account you can login with the same account on different consoles if you have the base game on them. Please don’t make fun of others, please don’t shame others for asking questions.

You have to buy a copy of the game on every platform you want to play, but as long as you log in to the same account, why do you have to buy the xpac? What are you talking about? So if I bought the xpac on PC, created a spirit-born character, and logged in on PS5, what would happen to this character? It makes no sense

I bought it on PC, but not on xbox. I think it is unfair that you have to buy it twice, and you don’t get anything extra, as in no additional character slots. But it is what it is, so if I want to be able to sit on my lazyboy when I am tired of my computer chair, then I will have to get it on xbox later. But I will wait for some sort of sale.

Honestly, if you have already purchased it on one, getting it on the other should at the very least be half price. That seems more fair to me, but why would they do that if I purchase it for full price? So that is why I wait.

One thing though: As soon as I bought VoH on PC (and I got the $40 version), I did have access to the kitty cat pet on both PC and xbox, so I think some of the features will cross over, iirc from what was said in the last campfire chat. I just won’t be able to play a spiritborn or go to the new land on xbox.

It’s Blizzard. They charge for automated services in WoW like server and faction changes. Of course you’ll have to buy it for each platform. They give nothing away.

The short answer is yes, you have to buy the DLC on each platform.

Maybe because it will completely break the crossplay for it? basically any character that touches expansion content I can’t play on other platforms now. Kinda garbage

Yes you need to buy multiple copies of the expansion. One per platform. That said you should retain premium rewards on each if you only bought the max edition once. Secondary platforms only require the base expansion.

I bought the steam version of VoH, and I can’t access my spirit born character on the Bnet version. This is so stupid, I was sure it didn’t work like that. Oh, if I have two copies of D4, that must mean I can play them simultaneously, right?

I would imagine, much like other games, the DLC is platform specific

So you buy the DLC on the platform you’re going to play it on

don’t buy the xbox gamepass version if you plan on using it on BNET and vice versa

need to buy it in any diferent platform. then ask yourself how bliz is making so mach money…

The issue I have is unlike D3 where I had both PC and PS4, I could play both at the same time. Just because it is cross platform, I should still be able to play as a separate playable account especially if I am buying for 2 separate platforms instead of being kicked from one when playing on the other

Yes. Even though Sony is just an annoying middleman between you and the Battle.net launcher, they want their cut of the expansion that they had no hand in developing.

The cosmetics are cross-platform though. This is just an opportunity to double-dip.

Yes it’s a bug, you have to pay twice to make it work
