"If you don't want WASD you are stupid"-Asmongold

no harm is having options as long as they focus on more urgent issues first heh

Having WASD in the game for the people that want it doesn’t affect people that prefer clicking at all. Clickers can still click and WASDers can WASD. If some people claim that WASD gives people an advantage in PvP or whatever, then they’re openly admitting that WASD is mechanically superior to clicking and it should still be implemented.

It’s not a matter of being stupid or not, but the people that don’t want WASD even though it doesn’t affect them at all are just selfish.

Lol coz no one’s been fighting against it unless they’re a Diablo purist.

Asmon is a perfect example of someone who a bunch of people follow so he automatically thinks everything he says is correct.
Problem is, most of the time his opinions are either something that has already been talked about in the community for weeks (yet acts like they originated with him) or just outright terrible ideas.

As others have said, this is the first time people will agree but because he’s saying something that the community’s already been wanting for some time, now.

Why would controllers have a hard time with this? Isn’t this basically what a controller does? And they’re already added

i dont want it because it will make others miserable, which makes me laugh.

Well, maybe I missed this, but what if I already know that I am stupid before I decide whether or not I want WASD? What then? Baseline is already set, so I’m a little confused on how to assess where I stand.

Asmongold throwing the word stupid around is hilarious in itself.

same as how Trump was elected, even bad press is good, as long as ppl are talking about you

How does WASD movement make it become DI?

I like Asmongold, but don’t use him as a good source. But yeah I agree, wasd should be a thing 100%. This is coming from a weirdo who likes using mouse instead for movement.

WASD in Immortal is amazing, despite the games reputation.

WASD was first used in the 1980’s… it’s old school, not new school.

But seriously… (disclaimer, this is just me thinking out loud; like I said above, I don’t care if WASD is in the game just so they don’t mess w/ my mouse)

No WASD will make it harder for bots, scripts and key macros. Mouse movement requires you to click on valid space before moving. Keyboard movement just moves in the direction until it hits a barrier.

Harder for bots? Not a good excuse. Botting is normal with or without wasd. It is not harder or easier.

Absolute non-issue since the game has controller support. Regardless, botting was rampant in D3V 10 years ago.

Is this another borrowed power strawman where we criticize some minor stuff and leave out the elephant in the room so we can say “YES THEY FIXED EVERYTHING” when they implement wasd?

Streamers are influencers, they are there to influence you. They are somewhat like the people you used to see in your tv. They sit there, have scripts, tell you what to think and get paid.

Shame his mom died, she seems to have been the one element in his life that grounded him. Now he’s propably surrounded 24/7 by people whispering in his ear and telling him how cool communism is.

nor is it necessary to conclude that someone is stupid because they do not see it as necessary or do not want to claim it.

Other than that’s going to be clunky the play. We aren’t playing WoW where you only have to pop off a skill once every couple of seconds. Last thing I want to do is have one hand controlling both movement and actions.

I’d like to have it in the game.

As someone mentioned earlier in this thread, adding the OPTION of WASD would actually require balancing around it. It’s undeniably a faster movement response and all the monsters movements and attacks speeds would need to be tuned to match that as the new difficulty balance. This would effectively make playing WASD meta which would likely mean not using this option would make the current traditional scheme suffer as a result.

You would wind up with people complaining that it’s too hard to play using the traditional point and click controls. So either way you can’t make everyone happy. I guess bottom line, adding something as an option doesn’t make it not required if your balancing around it becomes the lowest common denominator.

I think you’re right, but this game isn’t competitive. It’s too hard to use the mouse. I keep dying in D2R because of it! This game isn’t for me, sadly. It’s so easy I don’t even know what happens when you die. I’d like to see this in ARPGs though!
