My point is the counter point to that. It isn’t actually failing to retain players. Every ARPG “suffers” from this. This is not an MMO. This is not a game with dailies. This is a game you can pick up and put down and that is ok. I can’t link POE’s steam charts page but just go there and check the entire history.
You can visually see the start of every single POE league in the graph. People come back to a season, maybe they spend money on the season pass (Kirac’s Vault in POE). Maybe they buy some cosmetics.
Blizzard doesn’t care how many people play the game EVERY day. They care how many come back and drop money on the shop. Of course they are going to continue to provide QoL changes and such. I hope they advance the story too through season’s.
