this isn’t Little League, you dont get a trophy for showing up, this is the real world.
I ALWAYS get points for showing up. I’m the life of the party. Who else is going to post massive walls of text that very few want to read?
I don’t think the current Diablo team has any all-stars either to be fair. It’s a mid-team and they put out a mid-game. It’s fine. I’m enjoying Diablo 4, and to be honest the “Blizzard polish” that gets built up as they iterate is what has defined Blizzard in the past ~15 years more-so than some sort of creative spark. Even Hearthstone, which was a smash hit, was mostly them just getting ahead of the curve on the CCG market.
I skipped past that entire post I am guilty of that offense
The only thing I disagree with there is Diablo IV being a mid-game, and I only disagree partially.
-
As a game you play once and abandon, for the story campaign, I’d agree…mid game.
-
As a live-service you’re meant to stick around for that’s designed to keep your attention and enjoy throughout the various future incorporations, that’s where I think they failed monumentally.
If Diablo IV launched as a solo-co-op game where you were just playing through the campaign, it likely would have landed much better…and been further polished in that incarnation. Hell, were they focused purely on that…it may have even been phenomenal, for what it was.
To me, the campaign even felt a little rushed…and considering ALL they were doing during development, I’m not shocked. I felt the entire time through the story that they wanted to go a very different direction, but didn’t have the time and needed something to finish it up.
That’s one of the huge flaws…the MMO facets of the game aren’t developed enough to justify their incorporation and the live-service itself.
I WISH they were, I’m one of those who REALLY wanted a dense MMO element to Diablo, a MMOARPG would have been the bee’s literal knees, in my opinion…but that entire facet of the game feels like it’s two years underdeveloped, one at the least.
This is why we’re going to hang you by your toenails and feather you in virgin olive oil. It’s only virgin because we’re kind.
you are part of the reason gaming is in such a bad state right now. games can release unfinished, with massive intrusive microtransactions and give you no content for years and you will still have whales like you defending the practices and allowing them to get away with it.
They are not trying.
They want you to believe they are trying, but they clearly don’t want this game to be a good game. Not exactly sure why but it is their business model.
What world do you live in?
This happens in alpha beta testing long before a release and not after and charging moon prices for a alpha version.
They leaked info to the public prior to launch.
I have no doubt that they’re trying, but they’re working through the framework forced upon them. Not to say they’re the greatest devs in the world…but some of them apparently tried to warn everyone from before launch, just people were too hyped to care…myself included.
I remembered the article talking about extreme crunch and being overworked, but it was a blip on the radar and I completely forgot about it.
Act 4 definitely got cut. I’m guessing it was going to revolve around Inarius and build him up as a villain leading up to his fall in Act 6.
they aren’t trying to make the player base happy. They are trying to make the player base “content”. All for the sake the sale. We are just numbers in a negotiation. Nothing more.
By this logic WoW shouldn’t have been released yet because it has been going through balance changes, patching and content updates for nineteen years.
To be honest, I completely thought we were going to get a moral choice between Lilith or Inarius. I thought that, from Beta, we were going to be led to hate Inarius and then discover that he never even killed his son, that Mephisto set him up and, in his arrogance, he just didn’t care to exonerate himself to “lesser creatures.”
I figured the end would be us siding with one or the other, before BOTH forces were forced to unify against the true threat, that being a meddling Mephisto making his final move on whittled forces of both Lilith and Inarius.
From the Beta, that really seemed like where they wanted to go…that they weren’t going to be so “Lilith evil and that’s that.”
Not sure if that’s just my perception or not, but that’s what I thought was going to happen.
That and the war in hell…man, it would have been so neat if we were PART of the war, not running through after it seemed to have ended days ago.
naw man, I know what you’re trying to do. These aren’t fine-tuning balance tweaks this is “oh we didn’t get to that feature or skill yet so lets bandaid some stuff until we figure it out”
That was easy.
destroyed by that guy lol
Dont forget more backtracking. Even in your season pass… Had to laugh about that one first time I had to backtrack pages to get my smoldering ashes.
Oh and that juicy respec token from the last season row. Totally need that when you are already level 100 before you can even obtain it. Totally need that when you most likely already wander around with your endgame build. They just have no cleu what they do
i’ll use this as a defense point:
They have had how many yrs to see what players wanted/disliked in D3 to put into D4.
They ignored their own data.
Then lets go to the “load everyone you sees stash” coding…why? There is ZERO universe that has any actual function to anyone.
The patch they chose to nerf the over achieving builds by straight up nerfing EVERYTHING? Again…stupid as you didnt fix anything. the bad are still bad and thetop are still top since it nerfed everything.
Yes, Devs are people & changing game takes time…but these devs DON’T seem to be trying very hard.
Many of the issues with game shouldnt of ever BEEN issues at launch let alone a month later.
Do I have hope D4 will get better in a few seasons time? sure. (I mean they saved D3 from its god awful start)
However saying not to blame devs for their own choices and pure hate of userbase (and u cant tell me some of changes arent out of hate) is dumb as they also need understand “oh crap we fricked up…lets accept this, say we sorry, promise to do better, and actually do changes soon after”
Blizzard dev teams all share same issue…they think they know game best. They want you to play THEIR way when the player doesnt want to because no person wnats play game how they are told (thats hwy options exist).
OW1 devs specifically felt this…they had a view of game, players rejected it, the devs had change how they made game because of it. (this is entirely early OW1 not the 3yr stagnation of lies and the crap that is OW2)
You don’t have a thriving live service game by smacking your user base every time there is a patch.
and I will go back to stash bit becasue its got a lot deeper issues than many know.
- Lag casued by loading others stashes when u see em.
- Can’t increase stash becasue of coding being dog

now look at it from this point of view: they knew adding stash is impossible with current coding meaning they INTENDED this stash size to be all we ever got.
With gems, elixirs, seasonal item, etc all taking up space.
They had intended for us to have jack squat for inventory in a fricking ARPG loot game like diablo.
That alone says the devs didn’t care enough from start.
Are you not aware of those that wanted reverted back?
You can’t complain about this change if you were the majority wanting a change. Not liking the result shouldn’t come as a surprise when you just said it was core to Diablo IV’s design.
They have never ‘nerfed’ resistances. Nerfs sometimes are necessary because certain builds can overtake other builds to the point that only that specific build is only played for that specific class. This was Diablo III’s ROS to Ultimate’s problems because they never nerfed.
I didn’t say this, you said this which is projecting. It is clear what I said. Having it be a point to point reallocation would have to be the best bet. Though they are lowering the gold cost to reassign paragon and skill points.
There is. It is on stat items. If you are just a softcore player only going for damage that is your choice. Not the fault of the game.
Diablo III gave stash tabs in a similar way.
Special Tactics and Rescue Service. Hey, I am to please.
