If you copied and pasted builds from streamers or guide sites that were based on the previous beta and didn’t account for the nerfs to the classes then it’s your fault you felt weak.
You should have read the skills and figured out what is best for yourself and not relied on streamers and guide websites.
All the OP builds got gutted from the prior beta yet I saw many sorcs running around with Hydra. And you wonder why Ashava was so hard for some of you.
This is a lesson for release. There is no guarantee the classes will be the same from this build to the release build because they are different game versions.
So use guides at your own risk.

Prolly is my fault, for not reading the 200 page manual that comes with the game, oh wait nvm thats old school. but i didnt read any guides and or copy any youtuber builds, and pretty much did the same thing this time around for my sorcerer, and it super sucked, it wasnt an op build at all the first time around. Frozen orb build.
EDIT: off topic, I Used to love those guides you could buy for a game.
Like those master guides, like the wow one from way back in the day. I loved those things, looking at epic items and just getting lost in the book and then getting motivated to rush into the game with a plan.
Doesn’t take a lot of effort to get a heads up on class adjustments…
Just sayin’. I went barb this time around, and with the buffs I discovered, I made a pretty potent 2h build.
Old school is not the same as doing research. Diablo outside of Diablo 3 and Diablo Immortal are not games that just give you power for nothing. Most of the fun of Diablo 2 is theory crafting, and figuring out what works and what doesn’t.
RPG’s in essence are mathematical games for people who don’t always like math. Read that again.

Beta felt bad because everyone was trying to boss rush while 5 lvls down & 1 difficulty too high (most were trying Ashava on T2) to get a ridiculously limited edition item. I had no issues with anything other than Ashava & my super nerfed Ice Blades build was even able to take out Kor Dragon on T1 & dropped Ashava twice, also on T1. I expect when gear gets some CD reduction the build will be viable again late game, just not early game.

Why would you use ice blades when it was super nerfed???
See this is what I’m saying. You can’t assume builds from prior beta’s work. You have to try out things and see what they do yourself.
On release, you can’t trust any of the guides. They may all be wrong again.
This is because D4 is a deep game. Small changes to skills make a HUGE difference in builds.
When the game keeps nerfing things instead of making other things better, your going to know how fun the end game is going to be with your noodle arms.
Overall it was a good experience only came for the lvl 20 reward.
They nerfed things that were obviously broken. They did a good job.

Have you ever thought maybe its because it’s still lvl 1-20? End game the meta changes? Then what should we do? Nerf every build that pops up like it’s whack a mole?

Leveling a druid and barb raises my blood pressure. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to do it because the early game feels like molasses.

I always play barbs, I hope they have some new tricks with sets in this one.

Because it was Ultra powerful in the 1st two betas. So, even nerfed it still works. It doesn’t make you 100% immortal anymore, but the dmg and survivability are still very high. I was able to just camp at Ashava and hit her with Arc Lashes every fight. Wasn’t in any danger until she jumps away and does her arm spin or spits poison before I can run back up to melee range. I wanted to slot in teleport but the CD on Teleport is too low to spawn more Ice Blades. I slotted in Lightning Spear to go along with Frost Nova, Flame Shield & Ice Armor.
I tried a fire build that was supposed to proc firewalls on everything any time you do burning dmg, but it didn’t have as much DPS as the nerfed Ice Blades build. I think the 5% chance is really more like 0.5%. There’s a lot of hidden numbers/meanings in the tool tips you won’t be able to find out from Blizzard (they didn’t even patch note any of these stealth nerfs) unless you watch streamers.
Also the fire build was very gear dependent, the Ice Blades build is largely good to go just from points, no need for certain gear.
Don’t think so, considering Set items aren’t even in D4.
Well, ideally because nerfs are supposed to bring outliers in line, not make builds unusable. But like I’ve said before, Blizzard balances with wrecking balls, not scalpels, so you’re probably gonna take a few on the chin with them.
Except then they had to hotfix necros because even a dev complained… they dont even test their changes internally

No it doesn’t. It was way worse than other options.
Kind of true, I tried using Icy Vein and Maxroll and was disappointed with the build guide , felt really clunky and weak as Necro following the guide.
I do enjoy guide as reference though. I hope in Live game the build guide would be more accurate.
Again? Really? You posted this same tripe after the last beta weekend.
Do you really think anyone is going to read your condescending post and say “Oh wait, he’s right, I really did have a good time and didn’t realize it!!!”.
Nobody is copying some build guide because you only got 20-22 fricking points to invest. On top of that, you shouldn’t need any specific build to have fun on levels 1-20… why? because that’s where new users are actually doing what you said: figuring out what skills are best for them.
You’re one of the reasons people aren’t saying: “wow, the Diablo community is really great!”.

Except literally the guy above your post who said he used one…and it felt clunky.

Yup, I am not ashamed of saying I used guide. A lot of people do , and there is a reason why they are there. Guides are written by Diablo pro streamers and players it is fine to use as a reference. I am not judging on people being creative, so shouldn’t be judged on using a guide either.
