Honestly, the game direction is not good. I know we’ve been hearing it from the start but i can see the hole that the game is going in. Timer based, punishment over-time based, and simply getting more damage.
I’m sure most of us ARPG enjoyers off the top of our puny minds can think of very easy ways to fix the base game etc, so let’s hear it. Keeping it point form and maybe a why would suffice.
For me? As above,
-Timer game modes aren’t fun - Limits builds and build diversity.
-Damage only focus. Look at the defensive nodes in the paragon board - They are not interesting. Why no MAX res, Dodge, Lucky hit, etc etc (i know there’s lucky hit on sorc but more diversity)
-Paragon legendary nodes - MORE DAMOOGE - Brain dead. Why no defensive play
-Hitting a boss for 10 minutes or getting 1 shot - both not fun at all.
-Capping things like Armor and now all these legendary paragon nodes makes build creation boring and check-box type … boring limited. Game will kill itself. They shot themselves in the foot with the high dmg numbers from the start so now it’s like “oh easy fix just cap it”… It’s too late now and the classes or builds that are trash just need to be brought up to par rather that capping all the numbers. again, boring and the feeling of “being powerful” as blizzard likes to use, and build diversity, throw it in the trash.
Season 5 - (It looks terrible but it’s too late now)
Can fix the garbage arena, obviously.
-Buff helltides and the helltide events so they’re challenging, rewarding and fun (this could be a big point in s5)
-Add some spice to NM dungeons. Everyone loves running into the Butcher, Malphas was cool… Goblins are boring. I want a fight, not a piñata. Maybe increase NM difficulty from 75+ GRADUALLY along with higher chance at random bosses throughout or… whatever, use some imagination.
Stop with the dmg increase debuffs, the caps, the things that make a game cookie cutter boring.
I’m sure some of you will have great ideas… Let’s hear em’
remove all multipliers from everything and get the damage under control.
stop making it so we need 4+ items just to make our skills function
stop favouring one class
open up the “open world” more its all corridors
stop adding instanced content and make use of the pointless world they made
stop making all skills use the damage of the weapon
make levelling good and slow so seasons have a reason to exist
Nerf everything so that tier 100 is really challenging but doable by all builds and all classes. Make people imagine that doing tier 105 or 110 would be a stretch. Make relative safety and time to completion similar across all builds/classes.
Buff classes/builds who cannot tier 100 currently to the same level after the nerfs.
Make horde mode and other new game modes far more interesting, innovative, ambitious, and polished instead of recycling content/mechanics. Think of PoE modes.
Improve masterworking so it’s not so predictable/inevitable. Pressing a button 12 times and knowing what you’re going to get is not fun. Playing the same level over and over with almost zero variation is not fun. Add more variation to the pits.
Get rid of this pointless backtracking in Nightmare Dungeons that still exists on many of the dungeons.
Considering making level 1-100 a little harder. It’s too easy. I’m doing +30 levels over my own character without even trying. Like I just leveled a necro from 1 to 100 and I paid no attention to legendary affixes and I was pushing 30+ levels above me. Like wtf. You need to earn this, even a little.
Overall, just add more fun and variation to the game. Stop reusing crap. Not everything has to look like an event or a dungeon. I am very disappointed in the total lack of innovation in Diablo 4. PoE, a free to play game, completely embarrasses this game. Torchlight Infinite does as well.
Make characters walk faster, across the board. Like I want to uninstall.
No more power creep please. We’ve went from challenging content was mobs at level 154, to smashing through them and expecting level 200+ mobs to be the norm. All that would do is result in players asking for more challenging, higher level content. It’s fine to have content that no one can complete currently. It gives goal.
I disagree. My suggestion is removing the power creep, not adding to it. What a crazy comment
The current situation is vastly worse. Now you have barb making the other classes want buffs, which is creating exactly the kind of power creep situation you want to avoid.
Not every player and class can do pit 100’s. Making it so every player can by buffing them, is exactly that. The reverse of adding more power creep would be nerfing the barbs so that other classes don’t need buffs.
Season 4 is ultimately an amalgamation of feedback regarding their game being bad when it comes to itemization so I think you’re way off the mark that blizzard doesn’t take public feedback into consideration, otherwise season 4 wouldn’t have existed and they wouldn’t have literally completely overhauled their own itemization system, which still needs way more extensive work as it currently stands regarding unique items, whether that’s global uniques or class-specific uniques, way more work is necessary.
They do take feedback into consideration which is a positive, and season 4 has been the only step in the correct direction since this games release. It is still flawed (bricking items, most uniques still useless) but at least some effort was made to make this game better.
And yet everyone still gets far too many items, the vast majority of which are still useless except for scrap. Blizzard explicitly stated prior Season 4 that we would be getting far fewer items but that those would be a lot better. Apparently they aren’t even listening to themselves.
Also timers are for platform or racing games, not rpgs.
Agreed with the entire statement tbh. There are so many garbage items the least they could do was add an item filter system if they weren’t going to make it so less items dropped.
You do blood maiden farming and literally when you do that boss non-stop and don’t go to town to sell your inventory the entire screen becomes an item junkyard to the point where some items will actually disappear which I’ve seen and I don’t actually know if they’re going to the “missed” item tab or not which is actually hilarious because I don’t even think the devs know what’s going on this game regarding its mechanics.
The game mode itself is just bad, all they needed to do was make items drop a bit less and add a bunch of uniques and buff uniques that were already there. Fix some core skills and other skills that aren’t utilized. Instead they have dedicated teams for seasons wasting their time and effort.
I’d love to know who the itemization team in diablo 4 is so I can lambast the living hell out of them. The itemization team should have stepped down before this game even released.
Also to add, expanding the skill tree to at a minimum be a skill → 2 choices and 2 more choices x pattern. The skill to the follow up passive that’s mandatory is a strange design choice and i think that alone would be an amazing change, too.
The problem with this is that you will end up with diablo 3. There has to be a standard you’re balancing around or you’re just going to have balancing issues and are going to buff and buff endlessly. You have to nerf to keep things in line.
Not to mention, this also brings a great risk of powercreeping the skill trees themselves to keep up, which just makes leveling more trivial than it already is.
No, making it endless is a huge mistake. Instead, add more gameplay modes and things to chase, or just make another character. The biggest problem with the pit is that it’s basically the same dungeons you do at level 1 or in nightmare dungeons without the gimmicks. This is boring. Add 10 more game modes other than this and you won’t complain.
PIT should never be reached. Regarding the pit model, wait a few more seasons and everyone will be complaining about how exhausting it is. Diblo needs final content to call his own. worse.
Removing the Stygian stone requirement from Tormented Zir/B.i.T.I./Varshan/Grigoire while also reducing their Uber drop chance equal to any other open world boss/NMD’s for the sake of balance.
While adding a possibility to gamble more materials for more rewards.
Absolutely nothing, this season, got me more bored than killing Grigoire 100 times, while looting ~850 Iplvl gears & for a single material drop at a time.
