Ideas Lab : Hell Tides

For what the Hell Tides are currently, I would say that I really enjoy them, but you eventually get tired of them.

The chests, yes, but after a while, what is offered during the event is no longer sufficient.

On that note, they added 250 chests, which is a great idea, but why not go further?

  • Why aren’t there other chests requiring 350, 500, or even 800 Ashes to offer higher objectives or simply choices based on the players’ preferences?

Personally, I do the 2 chests at 250, and then I withdraw.
Okay, it’s nice, it’s relaxing, but it’s always the same thing, without surprises, without spices, always the same flavor, nothing special to vary the pleasures.

To bring some novelty to this event:

  • Couldn’t they put one of the chests in a fortified camp that you would have to overcome to obtain it? It’s always cool to break barricades, destroy defense towers, and penetrate a fortified environment!

  • Why not have “Hell Tide dungeons”? Not too long interiors, simplified designs, but where we would go to smash dozens of mobs in corridors and rooms before discovering the coveted treasure?

  • There could be “Activators” on the Map in certain areas to switch on, causing 4 or 5 bosses to appear to defeat before obtaining a chest.

  • The Hell Tides region could contain an area where creatures are more numerous and a bit more resistant (it should still be a massacre, but we can play at being scared).
    An area recommended for level 85+: “Warning, you are entering a dangerous area of the Hell Tides (85+)” as a warning.
    There would be 1 or 2 hidden chests in these places.

  • There’s an “assassin” who wanders around during Hell Tide, I like to take him on. To keep this idea, why not add 3 or 4 other tough bosses like him during the event, just to go big.

  • When you reach level 100, there could be a secret chest to gain 2 random ability points (Strength, Dex, Int, Will). This chest could be found in one of the proposed dungeons of the Wave or in the fortified camp, in the 85+ zone, or by killing one of the “Assassins”.
    This would give motivation for these players to go and find it (level cap at 150 points per ability through this method - which still involves participating in 375 HT events).

  • During the last 5 minutes (with a warning on the map at 7 minutes), the Hell Tides could summon a kind of smaller World Boss in a dedicated area for the camera. This one would be able to stand up to the players for many minutes (not just 1 minute like the current WBs), and if it is defeated before the end of the event, we would be entitled to a nice loot chest.

  • There could be more Goblins in the Hell Tides bazaar, to chase them among the numerous creatures. These Goblins would be quite resistant but would take longer to disappear.

  • Small areas (of reasonable size) could close for 1 minute, and players caught inside would have to fight for their survival. A bit like the skeleton traps you encounter in the desert, for example, but on a larger scale.

These are some ideas. This part of the game, as I mentioned, is fun in itself, but it is underutilized. There could be so many things to create just for this aspect of the game. Also, it would be a good thing to see the developers have fun preparing new recipes to spice up the event.
