Focus on new ways to play, and I think you’re going to have a GREAT time in D4:
Find unique and unusual ways to stash your gems. See if you can make a picture in your inventory using the different colors!
Wait 5 minutes before a 5 Grim Favor Whisper ends. See if you can complete it.
Sell all of your equipment except your weapon. See how long it takes to collect a new set.
Create bizarre character builds and see how quickly you can die using them. Make sure to Refund all your Skill Points until your broke so that you’re forced to play your new build.
Create alts just to run around and rediscover the world map and all the waypoints. Do this for every class.
Follow other players around and Cheer emote them constantly.
Use spreadsheets to make all equipment decisions.
Collect 10 Grim Favors and go back to the Tree. Open the loot window with the three options, close your eyes, and let your hand randomly choose one of the three options. They’re all basically the same anyway, but now you can make a new mini-game out of picking one (without consciously making a choice).
Go to all the dungeons and unlock the Aspects for only the classes you don’t play.
Listen carefully to all of the Side Quest dialogue. Ponder the quest giver’s plight. Write out a short story for yourself that expands on these stories before actually finishing them. That way, you can get even more immersed in the world of Sanctuary.
Craft Elixirs.
Refine Resources, Craft Incense, Enchant Items, and Add Sockets until you’re flat broke.
*level up a character without ever killing anything yourself.
I’ve managed to get a sorc to level 13 so far by following people around doing helltides leeching from events and avoiding the world boss while everyone else kills it, its actually great fun!
Cry a little because you realize Blizzard North is dead and gone and they’re never coming back. This shambling husk wearing their skin is what we have now.
IDK why but I am taking a break from D3 grinding and this made me laugh pretty hard. In fact, a lot of these are laughing juice.
I CBA with this game. It’s so dull & drab. Signed on to D3 and immediately there’s people chatting and helping each other out. Running its end game actually feels rewarding. The skills look better.
i went faaaaar beyond human limits. i reinstalled warcraft 3 reforged. i decided going back to wc editor and creating a mod myself, would always be better or at worst case, on par with this and would definitely offer me a more pleasing experience anyway. yeah that’s how bad d4 is, devs: moving people back to wc 3 reforged. let that sink in then give yourself a long hard honest look in the mirror, if you dare.
(btw at the moment i have 8 races, fully implemented and working. set in a grim remote future where humans are just one among other races that they themselves created in long gone destroying world wars, first based on genetic manipulation then good ole nukes, resulting in almost total extinction, leaving survivors to struggle in the ruins among plenty of mutations etc resulting eventually in the current races, many millennia after. but this is part of the story, you will discover only at the end, in “planet of the apes” way - not the modern reboot, the original with the liberty statue on the beach. when you’ll discover that rotten ravaged destroyed world is simply earth, and everything and everybody is the long descendant of the mess we current idiots made. take that, story tellers, it still beats hands down any day your idiotic neyrelle and campaign. i have vampires, mutants, cannibals, infects, demon-like creatures and others along varying factions of usual humans, plenty of wild life and environments etc. heroes have mounts which don’t bump constantly in anything, can gear faster and have more interesting skills, and i am having loads of fun just doing it - actually all i have to do each time i open editor is thinking at something diablo 4 does… and then just do it totally different to instantly have something pleasing)
I stopped playing D4 at 63 and although I considered coming back for the season, I will likely never play this again or not until after a couple years have passed.
Back to playing WoW and appreciating it for all the years of entertainment while still finding ways to enjoy it. Besides a bit of D3 I really wasn’t a ARP game player but I for some reason had high expectations for this game.
I should have learned after they ruined warcraft 3 for no reason. Reforged into a far worse version. On the other hand DF was a big step up from SL as far as WoW goes. It’s so hard to put faith in any ‘new’ games from this company after all the diapppintment.
Mostly I was hoping for something new and fresh because I grow tired of the same games I’ve been playing for decades. There is a certain thrill and excitement that comes with new games that I have a hard time finding these days.
It’s kind of fun trying to improve along the way and accomplish new goals. Whether it’s mythic raiding, M+, or pvp there is usually some seemingly insurmountable goal you can slowly work towards. I only do casual pvp nowadays. I’m far from great but above average. It’s rewarding to see the improvement you make and know you’ve put in the effort to be better than a lot of others.
Nowdays I’d prefer to have other players around to group with regularly because I feel the social aspect is a big part of what makes the game feel good to play.
