Limit the number of options in the tempering manual to a maximum 4
-
The first 3 or 4 (depending on the number of options in the manual) are guaranteed not to be repetitive, only the order and value are random
-
The next tempering will be completely random just like the current one
The number of tempering is just like now + 1x for every GA (like in the PTR patch).
This way it will be more guaranteed that we will get the right temper even though the value is random.
Or allow enchanting to reroll a tempering affix within its manual, while conforming to the 1 affix enchanting limit.
So you only get to reroll one of your tempering affix if you haven’t rerolled any of the original affixes on your item.
I don’t think the idea is to guarantee that you get the right temper. If it was, they’d have made it more like enchanting.
Mentioned this in another thread, so I’ll mention it here.
Each Tempering manual now lists the odds of each affix to roll when tempering.
Rolling a specific affix will reduce its odds for the next roll, and distribute those points evenly to the other affixes.
A new tempering material called flux will be introduced. A single flux can be made using 10 Neathiron.
You have the option to apply 1 flux per temper. Flux will increase the odds of an affix by 8%.
I think the “within its manual” would be the hangup here. You should be able to enchant a temper affix at the occultist regardless though. Thats a good point.
I think the key to making a realistic proposal, i.e. one that devs would actually consider, is to accept that devs want items to expire.
So any idea that allows an item to be used for one purpose then re-tempered in any way to fit another purpose would be a big no in their books.
They’ve shown willingness to loosen some of the RNG, but ultimately they specifically want people to suffer at RNG and brick items.
So anything that gives the possibility to infinite re-tempring, regardless of how heavy the cost is, are highly likely to be dismissed the moment they finish reading it.
