[Idea] GA Fusing

Effect: Add more greater affixes on an item by fusing it with another one that has greater affixes.

How works: Imagine you have an item with 2 greater affixes and you want to add 1 more GA or beyond for that item to be chef’s kiss.

You would sacrifice another item that mandatorily has at least 2GA for a CHANCE to rebuild your desired item with also 2GA or a chance of adding more affixes. In this case, how you sacrificed an item with 2GA, your chance is that your desired item comes with 2-4 GA (if the item allows it, for example, being an unique item).

Or imagine you take an item without any GAs and you want to add GAs on it.
You would sacrifice an item with the number of potencial GAs you want to get.

This is specially good on unique items and to make use of an item you have with GAs but you don’t intend to use it in any way or can’t sell it because it didn’t came with desirable GAs.

Also, it gives the player agency, so he can craft its own godly item without the need to count only on luck.
Would also create a new flux in the market, because now, that GA item that didn’t come the way anyone would want (because meta) now have a value, it becomes a crafting material.

This would not be good as 1GA would become some of the best items. You just build what you want. Ppl would be BiS in a week.

No more in-town ideas. Just go kill demons and get loot.

I think a system like this would make it too easy. We’d all be done with the item chase in a few days after hitting lvl 100

72 hours tops.

This game is becoming less and less of what Diablo should be which is killing monsters. It’s becoming easy mode crafting simulator with everyone wanting perfect gear. Perfect gear isn’t required but is because it’s the only content. Crafting is the game and farming is the catalyst.

There are ways to counter this.
If the mechanic is an item: Make it as rare as uber uniques.
If is a native (as tempering and masterworking): Unlocks after a certain milestone and can be done with a limit per item.

Again, remember that my idea isn’t a guaranteed +GA.
The new item you are creating can come with GA in affixes you don’t want. It rolls between the affixes you have at random and only has a chance to add a new GA.
Like if it resets the GAs you have to roll again.

Example:
Item:

Grandfather [Before the mechanic]

  • Stats (GA)
  • Life
  • Damage (GA)
  • Durability

Grandfather [After the mechanic (one of the possible outcomes)]

  • Stats (GA)
  • Life (GA)
  • Damage
  • Durability

Grandfather [After the mechanic (if you get super lucky and it rolls with 1 more)]

  • Stats (GA)
  • Life (GA)
  • Damage (GA)
  • Durability

You are gambling for the chance of improve.
