Idea for lighting sorc aspect - ***Devs***

Hey there, really enjoying the new season with going to lighting sorcerer after playing necro to 100 on eternal.

Lighting build is so satisfying but I thought a mechanic for the build would be really fun;
perhaps a aspect that magnetizes a player to auto absorb/pull in all crackling energy spawns, could make the chain lighting build really impressive.

Yeah, running around to collect sucks.
Even just a radius that auto picks up, radius size decreases based on how many charges you have.

Yea, I feel like it may be over powered if it did it no matter what but maybe the caveat could be any time, any lighting ability is casted it magnetizes the player for x seconds to absorb crackling energy but also has no cap on it so you could keep juicing the mod by attacking.

Crackling energy now spawns closer to the player as opposed to inside the cluster of enemies you just pissed off. :rofl:

Or make it interesting.

Every 5 crackling energy that spawn nearby will collect together and form a lighting orb that starts moving towards the player for 5 seconds dealing damage, deals 20% less damage per second (basically the charges get consumed every second it’s active so picking up after 3 seconds would only get you 2 charges)

If not collected at the end of the 5 seconds, it disperses, dealing damage and applying CC of sorts?

Letting Lightning spear collect energy if it hits it would be kinda neat as well

Yea that’s a really cool idea too. Or even a aspect that leaves the crackling energy stationary but once you cast a lighting ability it connects all of them together in a lighting channeling grid that connects to player, channeling the buffs instead of consuming immediately and creating a shock grid that deals its own damage too as the lighting connects to all the crackling orbs.

If they put a “Sith” looking cosmetic set up, I’d be forced to pay the stupid prices just for the visual appeal all season. :joy::joy:

Auto picking up on an aspect is a waste of a slot IMO. Picking up sparks arent giving us enough advantage compare to other builds. If they can make the aspect to reduce x seconds cooldown for each spark you picked, it will be more fun.
Also, lighting skills still have a dmg problem, if they can make shock as a passive, like the 5th time that a target is hit by a shock skill, it can have a change to do a small AOE explosion (mini nova, current charge bolt effect).

Right on, all depends on build preferences. I’m not comparing to x,y or z. Just something that would make that feature more interesting. I am not doing a cheese build so they are helpful with chain lighting mana costs to spam more often.

Think bigger, the class won’t be broken if they give us actually good aspects.

How bout…”Crackling energy is absorbed and every crackling gives you 10% crit dmg for 10 seconds, stacking.”

Before you say hey that’s too good, look at druids rampaging werebeast or other aspects other classes get please.

I get it, but we have precious few offensive aspect slots as it is. We shouldn’t need to use an aspect slot to make a game mechanic coherent and valuable. Something like this should just be inherent.

I actually don’t mind having to dash around and collect CE. I just think they need to double its dmg and have passives or aspects that give us buffs for collecting it and ALSO a way to vacuum them up if we want to stay put. It would be strong but why can’t we have nice things that are strong?

This exist, just maxroll has told everyone not to use it

That would be cool too, I thought there were rare nodes in paragons that already kind of did that though.

Always said that the real pain about CE Is the fact that you Need to pick them up of they give US some kinda of Aura that let US pick them within a range (like gold pick up work in D3 for exemple) that would be alredy a HUGE QoL o and they can boost their damage a Little bit too🤣 Also It would be nice see some sort of interaction/mechanic if you collect them when you have alredy max charges

Intuitively i thought that teleporting through orbs would collect them, this should be a thing.

The design is they want you dashing and teleporting around to collect them and I’m actually fine with that. It just needs more incentive to make the builds powerful and worth the work.

I expected that as well.

it’s not fun and no other class has a mechanic like this if we could cast chain lightning while moving maybe it would make sense but all the skills require you to stand still and cast… then move and cast…

Being a unique mechanic is not bad, they want that. The juice just has to be worth the squeeze. Fun is subjective, I like CE and lightning gameplay personally. It’s just annoying you pretty much have to take fire and frost bolt or it’s suboptimal and even optimal it isn’t GOOD lol.
