Icy Veins said it best

Season 1 isn’t bringing anything new or exiting to keep the average or hardcore player engaged longterm. The article was dead on IMO. You can only chase gear & slash enemies for so long before boredom creeps in.

The devs didn’t seem to put any major efforts into season 1 in terms of the open world, unless they drop some big news before season 1 (not happening). The aspects, uniques, hearts, etc. sure, it’ll be fun, for a week or two, but it won’t last three months. No chance.

So many opportunities missed. They have this whole, big world to exploit and haven’t. Will season 1 keep everyone engaged for three months? No. No chance. Season 1 will probably dictate much for a lot of players to see if they return for season 2. Just my opinion. I enjoy the game & want the best.

They keep saying the games only been out for a month. This is true, but the game has been in development for how many years? I mean, come on. That excuse doesn’t work.

Normal Blizzard. Overhyping and underdelivering.

Game needs leaderboards badly

No kidding, they copy-pasted d3 end game and act pikachu surprised when people are like “uh, really? nah”

Why evolve the series and design concepts when you could just make different graphics and get $100 usd from all us suckers

I mean all that will do is outline how druids faceroll end game and sorcs don’t even show up to it

Yeah it’s just a chill power creep season where you earn some cosmetics and then quit.

Yeah… I mean this is d3 tho. this was the problem with d3.

We wanted better for d4 and blizz shills just said to anyone asking why they did it that way a noob/scrub and to delete the game and not play it and stop whining.

cant even have conversations, it’s all tribalism for everything, even online video games lol

Nah its whats FUN about d3. Make a new char, blast to max level and power, push the highest gr you can to get on the leaderboards, then quit. GG

Why they did seasonal content that lasted a few months? Idk but it’s a fun way to also get a new big patch I guess. Otherwise we’d just be getting patches until they come out with an expansion.

seasons is not an end game. boring loop and underwhelming content.

They don’t want to keep us engaged for the whole 3 months duration of the season , they want us to buy the bp get done whit it and come back for the next one . Or at least this seems to be their plan .

There is no real endgame , the only “chase” item we have ( all Six of em ) they made well clear they must remain unobtainable to the point they won’t make a difference if they are in game or not . Once you hit wt4 , doesn’t matter at what level you start you’ll be chasing the same items over and over again you just wanna upgrade them every so much level , always fighting the rng hoping to get that same combination of affixes that usable for your build . Till you realize there’s really no point to it .

But they didn’t “copy/paste” D3. Instead they copied, kept only the worst parts, slapped some crummy UI on it, then pasted it.

Every dungeon now feels like the Shrouded Moors. Empty corridor after empty corridor with pointless busy work glued on top in the lame attempt to say “See! It’s not the same!”

Bounties have been replaced by Whispers. Only the rewards are 20 times worse and you can’t even port to the Tree directly. Not only do you have to open the damn map (and usually screw around with the zoom level) when you do arrive the target is so far away from the portal that riding your mount to the tree is a thing.

Combat is no longer fast and fluid. Instead every fight turns into an endless struggle to maintain resources by hitting massive demon lords with pool noodles while we juggle insane cooldowns and wait for the boss’ “knock down” timer to fill.

Gone are the sub two minute GR runs… replaced by 5-10 minute slogs interrupt by timer bars filling while we release the 5th of 7 prisoners or backtracking halfway across the map with a bloodstone.

The game was outsourced. Had to be for this to be the final product. Totally missed every mark.

I agree the end game gets old fast and Season 1 isn’t solving this problem. Maybe the loot chasing will take longer, which might keep engagement up a little longer.

If season 1 had this magical end game fix, it begs the question why isn’t in in the release version? These problems that people have identified won’t get fixed until at least Season 3 because they will take more programmer time to implement. Maybe S2 can add some things, but I’m not holding my breath.

I’ll enjoy S1 for what it is. Hopefully some good balance changes will occur plus some new builds. But I imagine I’ll get 70-100 hours of fun out of it then quit until S2. And honestly, that’s not bad for free content.

Does anyone else notice that only real “reward” for playing Season 1 is to earn a “Scroll of Amnesia”. The scroll will let you do a full respec for free. One free respec. Talk about a season reward worth forgetting. I might just “forget” to play the season.

Why do you keep reverently slamming D3 and suggesting they copied it here? Mate, D3 is actually fun. This game is not fun.

There’s almost nothing about it that’s like D3 other than the title and the lore that they retconned. This game would be better off if it was a D3 upgrade.

To suggest they are “the same” just tells me you haven’t played or know D3.

I’d love to know what Icy veins said. I can’t find a link to anything close to what you’re saying on their website.

Depends on at what point they quit in D3. D3 was a mess from endgame, loot and much more on release. Not everyone came back for ros

Good luck with trying to sell the battlepass to people not enjoying the game

It’s no different than how mobile games are so profitable. Doesn’t require a large audience. Just a few whales who will spend more than everyone else combined. Its why activision bought king, the candy crush maker. It makes more money than any of their other content makers. Same model here.
