I wonder which microsoft exec called stop on the edgy horror

I havent bought the expansion yet, but i’m honestly surprised how far all the content i’ve seen so far has pulled in the exact opposite direction of the offputting if not densitized horror that the base game comes with.

Generic teen male and female songs in the marketing trailers, the main verb in the expansion is “seething”, the gameplay has been completely transformed into d3, its really easy now, no resistance, no distinction, nothing noteworthy just bland addiction and monetization with hd graphics.

I don’t exactly mind, i definitely did find the horror offputting at launch, but after 5 seasons of playing the game i was fully desensitized. I guess the microsoft vp who made the call never made it that far :stuck_out_tongue:

ps. the cosmetics are above average this season / store wave, and im glad they’ve stepped enough away from the rod ferguson d3 saturated cheeze model. I havent bought the xpac yet tho so… the white cat mount shown today looks amazing… keep that in the store until the end of season pls.

Yea the guys whose IP is “Doom” are the ones censoring your game? Hahaha ok bud why dont you take a look at everybody who speaks in the camp fire chats and who talks about content releases on D4’s youtube page, microsoft is one of the last gaming companys to not worry about censorship and they may be the only company trying to nip there infestation in the but thats causing bad products

The songs in the trailer were a huge mistake. Totally agree on that one…

I wish.

So blizzard are just watering down everything because they’re changing creative direction?

Guess you would never know.

It still feels wrong though… why didn’t they just do this in the first place? I guess what blizzard in current days is just that. Yeah, and if they’ve completely upended the gameplay systems, sure why not the narrative as well.

For the record, d3 was better just from its consistency and taking itself seriously in game. Sure decard cain killed by a butterfly wasn’t their highest moment, but everything else was fine.

One of the main issues ive seen posted that is not being talked about is battlepass cosmetics not being usable on spirit born… if thats not a bug then i would strongly suggest to talk about that… and what happened with D4 in my opinion is Blizz needed there WOW community to keep diablo alive because most of the arpg community left.

Hmmm. I’ve bought quite in cosmetics myself and have all the paid battle passes…

At first you would think it was just corporate operational failure, team a didn’t know about team b, but given how long the xpac, classes and battle passes are in development you have to conclude that they just want to force you to buy new cosmetics for the new class.

Blizzard are trying to have it both ways and its logically impossible unless you’re an addicted/whale. On one hand, blizzard want you to buy lots of constantly new cosmetics for each class… but on the other hand, they want you to have disposable characters each season to get their engagement metrics and battle passes up…

If you fall for the season play like i have, you really are not inclined to by more than one outfit for a class and it always has to be better than the last one. If they made characters permanent you could rp alts and have different outfits for each but that’s not what they want.

So their giga transaction cosmetics sales on average are probably lower than they want so they’re just being slimy about the first seasons battle pass. Or they know how good this season is for the expansion launch so figure that most people will be happy with the premium battle pass and not pay 3x as much for just one outfit.

Diablo is just a melting pot for their corporate interests and different people want different things and they’re all trying to take it out of the one game.

Nothing else can explain why the game works against itself so directly.
