I was curious if Diablo Immortal (did not play it) featured Diablo as a boss, so I went over and started looking at some information on it. Did you know it has more content than Diablo 4? Did you know Diablo Immortal carried over things into Diablo 4? World bosses and zone events came straight from there.
BUT… do you know what Immortal has? Raids. An endgame. 8 player party raids. Also has clan system where you can bank items for other clan mates. WOW!!! WHY ISN’T THAT IN THIS GAME?! (before you all comment “because we don’t want that” its a NEW idea in a diablo game, maybe that would be FUN to try, I know i would enjoy it)
The more digging I do, the more this game becomes exposed as a knee jerk reaction, quick develop get it out fast af asap for money grab.
Diablo Immortal is more a MMO than D4. And it was released last year so yeah has more content.
I tested it last week-end and it is fun, if you ignore the P2W elements…
I think they planned on just releasing immortal and that was it.
You can tell from incidents like the tone deaf “don’t you guys have phones?” at the conference where everyone was expecting announcements for a real PC game D4.
After the backlash, they then had to scramble to get D4 together. They had parts of a game that were probably migrated and adapted to the then only focus immortal game.
That’s why a lot of D4 seems like a phone game, like the interfaces, skill trees, etc.
In addition, they had a full(ish) game but didn’t have any content for S1. So they chopped out the last 1/3rd of the game to be re-released as S1.
You are right though, all that content that exists in a f2p game that only cost $11 million to make should also exist in D4 which cost 1000 times that to develop.
This is what people are frustrated about. They followed all the early problems/errors from poe/d2/d3 instead of fixing them and adding them to a new version of the diablo game. How are we in 2023 STILL experiencing stash problems. This is one of MANY problems that I can’t understand how it went over their heads or did they just choose to use it as improvements and call it content later. “look guys we made QoL changes” when the game is already dead.
But it is in the core game. It has just been shaved off before release so it can be given back to us piecemeal as seasonal ‘content.’ On a side note Diablo has always been pay2win tho, the only difference is who makes the money, blizzard or chinese farmers/botters/account sales.
Want an example? look at what theyre doing with overwatch 2. Shaved the pve off the release, promised they would release it later. Got outed that they never planned oncompleting it even before the game released. They are currently selling the cut pve content piecemeal to people. And people are ACTUALLY buying it! Its no wonder they keep doing it.
Its like some people on this forum think blizzard doesnt pull any shady business.
Diablo 4 was rushed after the 2018 Blizzcon debacle and they literally ignored most of the good things from previous Diablo titles as well as other ARPGs, to only deliver a barebones game.
Plz don’t believe that. There is NO WAY this game has been in development for that long. You are conditioned to believe that because you are used to the old way of things. d3 was in development for that long. d4 was NOT. If this is what we get after TEN YEARS we have problems.
Immortal actually launched with full feature content.
There are even rogue-like genre stages(Only for Shadow faction. It’s called Path of Blood) that progresses in difficulty which is in itself a great fun to challenge.
People really enjoyed the rogue-like genre so they even added Diablo-lesque version of Hades as an event. You are given a fixed skill, but you have to choose the right aspect to maximize potential. You are rewarded with legendaries that you could pick which was a godsend for people who couldn’t obtain certain pieces.
There are two season cycles in Immortal.
One is the faction war season with its own leaderboard, and the battlepass season.
