I can’t begin to imagine how a game built on Diablo 3’s source code (a smooth, buttery game) runs with so much rubber banding it makes my Diablo 1 56k connection from 1999 look like I was playing with an ethernet cable plugged right into the server in comparison.
Just mind boggling.

I remember those days, but after D1, i went to EQ on a 56k modem, that was a joy!

Was there even a central server tracking your position in D1? I thought it was all client side and bnet just let you tell other clients where you were. So rubber banding wouldn’t happen, only other players teleporting/gliding.
I believe it was port to port connection like you said, bnet just allowed you to connect to another existing player on the internet. It would help you establish that connection, but nothing more, there were no servers. Was the same for Warcraft 2, not sure about 1, I don’t think Warcraft 1 even had multiplayer capability? I could be wrong, been waaay too long since I’ve played it.
i am playing battlebit on servers that hold up to 254 players with zero lag what so ever, even when it’s zerg on zerg in a small area. yet i get rubber banding in d4 where all zones are instanced with a limit of 12 people total. so how can 3 people make better netcode than an entire multi billion dollar company? it makes no sense tbh.

Your welcome
look at this daddy’s boy with his 56k when everyone rocks a 28.8
I used to play Diablo 1 on 56k with less rubberbanding
Ok, let me explain to you how this works. Rubber banding occurs when you’re swapping instances or loading more content.
There was no rubber banding in Diablo 1 because there was no instances and there was also barely any multiplayer data at all.
Do you understand how your internet connection works? How multiplayer games work?

And still a superior game compared to d4
With a offline mode ^^

idk dude how did diablo 3 work so seamlessly then? there were plenty of zones being loaded outdoors before you went into an instance
My first modem was a 300 baud haha

It’s a complicated problem. Some ppl lag all the time and some ppl rarely lag. I lagged all the time for the first couple of months. Now I rarely lag.
Haha yeah, phone interruption’s while raiding plane of hate were Fun, 32 hours later…
I’ve been getting massive lag/rubberbanding since Friday.
Never been this bad for me. Not even the free beta/demo was this bad.
It’s basically unplayable. My latency never goes below 72, and it’s frequently spiked into the 300+ range. I think I even saw 1000 something briefly in a spike.
I’ve read some tricks and tips here, on reddit, etc. and nothing has worked so far.
I don’t know if its this weekend or what…My actual ISP was having issues today too.
