I, too, hate temper bricking

It’s awful. Nothing feels quite as bad as watching a huge upgrade roll none of the affixes you need 6 times in a row and ending up on a min roll for a stat your build literally doesn’t use. I know many people are saying this but I’m just gonna add my voice to the storm because… well, i’m frustrated

p.s. please leave me your most toxic takes on this. they’re delicious

I enjoy seeing all of the forum newbies venting.

I love people who spend more time on the forums than playing the actual game.

Ya, it needs some tweaks but can be somewhat abused in order to get better chances on your rolls.

So, some folks are using Junk items and tempering them 3-4+ times and if they DON’T get the temper they want after that they start rolling their main item in hopes of hitting the pitty roll on #5, 6, 7… Not sure if it’s legit but it seems to work for me and some others but will exponentially raise the cost of tempering by throwing away a lot of rolls and items.

Disagree. Sure it feels bad when you don’t hit your affixes, but that just makes the high feel so much better when you finally get what you want. And you will never have that feeling, ever, if you remove the current rng that is tempering. It will just be a boring grind to max out all your items.

I am starting to think a lot of posts regarding this are people hitting their desired temper and then rerolling it for a higher roll and then getting pissed when they lose the affix entirely. That’s my tinfoil hat theory because I have been rolling tempers on potential replacement gear a ton and have only truly bricked one GA item.

That being said… Although I didn’t actually kill many pieces. I have seen Dodge roll hit 3 times in a row many many many many times… Seems suspicious so who knows.

Keep in mind that getting a drop with wanted 3/3 and then getting the exact same 2 tempers you wanted would have been like getting a drop pre season 4 that had perfect affixes in every slot which I personally never had happen once… Ever. Now it is a possibility to get 5/5 multiple times over.

This is true. I bought a 3 GA item from another player and hit the two tempers I wanted on the first two tries. Feels awesome.

You will hate the game if tempering will be nerfed till you can easily get your dreamgear within 3 days. That will get really boring. Bricking an item is part of the journey. Having bad luck and having luck.

Im leaning more towards all the salty tear are from credit card warriors who bought a 3/3 ga and made it suboptimal.

Its not a big deal not getting the 5/5 because its so easy to achieve. The older system was sifting through bags of rares looking for 5/5.

Getting a 3/3 for what your looking for isnt hard to come by.

I see you returned after a year, good for you. My level 100 necro is doing just fine thank you.

I agree with this. People are sleeping on getting a 2/3 hitting tempers then enchanting off the last affix. They get a cash drop and want it to turn out perfect. THe old system was painful. Full Random.

i love the idea that cc warriors are crying because they “wasted” their money. who knows maybe the rmt will decline because people will see the possibility as too much risk

I hate when it happens. At the same time I understand it. If they just let you continually roll then they might as well just let you pick the affixes you want. The only other thing they could do is add a huge grind for a reset token or something like that.

These are the type of things that give the game longevity. If you could just pick everything then people would be done with the game in a couple days. It feels bad but not everything needs to feel good. It would actually feel pretty meaningless if you could just roll what you want all the time. Then there is no dopamine.

What I don’t like about it is there feels like there is artificial weighting to the rolls. It’s not likely to roll the same exact affix 6 times in a row. Even less likely to happen on multiple pieces of gear, yet this happens to me all the time. Same with the enchanting. Some affixes are so rare they don’t even drop and are almost impossible to enchant. They at least need to make it real rng and removes the weighted bs.

You can brick a couple of items in a row. Oh noes you think.
But the item you have luck with will mean a lot to you.

I honestly think this is the vocal minority. Its not like they are going to come out and say “I spent $200 and didnt get what I wanted”

They could make the sting a little less by making the bricking temporary rather than permanent.

Make items regenerate one tempering charge every 24 hours, and they can hold a maximum of 5 charges.

You still get the RNG, you still get the extreme satisfaction when you get what you want, you still get frustrated when you’re made to wait a whole day for just one more tempering try, but at least the item isn’t bricked permanently.

I bricked a number of gears with 2 GAs and it was painful to watch. Now my strategy is that when I hit the affixes I want, I stopped rerolling even if the stats is low. Found out that if I continue to reroll hoping to get a higher stats, two things will happen. First, I may not get the affixes that I want and the roll will always ended up with a lower stats.

Maybe can pay the Blacksmith some gold like 5 million gold for him/her to “recover” the bricked item so you can have another 5 tries.

I don’t like tempering as a system; those affixes should just be added when the item drops!
But I do like the tempering limit. It is the only good thing about the whole tempering system. Unlimited retries would make the system a joke.

Stuff like “5 million gold for a reset” would be entirely meaningless. You can get 5 million gold in minutes.
Tbh, there is no reset cost that would survive Blizzard Power Creep™.

Good luck finding an item that got good rolls + the two affixes you want. You have way better chances with tempering
