I logged on tonight, did a few whispers and got my reward. In it, I got two crap regular legendaries and a bunch of junk. I’m lvl 70 in T4. I then logged right out. I realized, I just wasn’t having any fun.
I started playing day 1 of early access. Leveled a Sorc to 100, played a little HC and got another Sorc to T3, lvl 67 I think, haven’t played her in a while. Then my S1 Sorc.
Here is the problem.
The endgame is leveling to 100, which is tedious, more a chore you have to complete like emptying the dishwasher or taking out the trash, cleaning the cat litter.
The paragon system is a part of the leveling experience. Paragon used to be something you strived for AFTER you finished leveling. You know, something on the side that gave you a little bit of progression.
Gear is just plain boring.
“Oh look, another junk wand with affixes I don’t need!”
“Oh, an aspect for a spell I don’t use!”
“Oh, this ring is awesome, but the malignant heart spot on it isn’t the same as the one I have, which is vital to my build, so I can’t use it!”
Looting gear is no longer exciting.
The season started TOO SOON! S1 started less than 2 months after the game launched. A bunch of people hadn’t even gotten to 100 yet, much less had time to finish the campaign. Now, we have got to do it all over again, and again, and again, and again…
Nope.
I’m not going to do it again for a second, third or even a fourth time.
I’ll be back for the expac. Maybe Sorc will be better by then and Blizzard will have hashed out a decent endgame.
No, you can’t have my gold.
Yes, I am complaining. My purchase of the game allows me to do that.
See ya in the expac.
I understand all your sentiments and this is close to what most people are feeling. But I don’t get this one.
If anything the season had to start even sooner. And with these “seasonal mechanics” it should of ended by today, to be frank. Even one month is a lot for this… well mockery.
I think this is the true endpoint a lot of people are at right now. And this is on purpose by blizzard - this is where they wanted it to end - purposefully designed.
We ate all of the cake at once.
Either re-roll and re experience time gated progression just to get to a point to enjoy experimenting in the new class/builds, kinda not worth it.
I think you’re really shooting yourself in the foot by only ever playing one class. I’ve never played the same class more than twice in a row, and probably never without skipping a season in between to play another game. Anything done to excess can result in tedium, and all the things that can get tiring in a game are compounded if you’re playing the same class in addition to running the same content repeatedly. Do you generally only play one class in an ARPG?
I played all classes on the eternal realm. I’ve got a lvl 80 Rogue, a lvl 72 Necro, and a Druid and Barb at around lvl 40. I have zero interest in barb or druid. And not enough interest in D4 to play Rogue or Necro again in seasonal play. The classes might be different, but the game is not.
Oh, and I have played through the campaign twice.
Gameplay alone isn’t interesting enough to me to play the two other classes I like.
Ah, so not the one class problem. Sounds more like the “playing too much for anybody’s good” problem. That break until the expansion might be a good idea.
You are correct. Loot, crafting, and trying all kinds of crazy builds with the loot you farmed was the end game in D2. All of which is nearly non-existent in D4.
My quit post made the staff SO MAD that they actually deleted it and it didn’t contain any cuss words or bad language or threats or anything. It clearly got under their skin. I just said “any sap who sticks with Blizzard has a soft spot in their heart for broken things.” Clearly someone at Blizzard can’t break up with their abusive BF.
