I had early access and I’m still only like lvl 35. Druid is horrifically boring. I can’t even bring myself to finish the story. The “builder” could literally do zero damage and it wouldn’t be any worse. Constantly out of spirit. Everything dies slow. Just so boring.
I log in. I try to play I’m bored and in quicksand trying to kill stuff and I log out and try again in a couple days after I forget how terrible it is.
Nothing kills me and I can kill everything it’s just sooooo boring.

It isn’t that bad leveling 1-50, just don’t run pulverize as its slow. Once 50 switch to pulv if you want that build.
Druid has the most painchamp leveling experience bar none. I’ve leveled everything except necro and druid is the most tedious slow boring experience I’ve had so far.
Tornado is gated behind an aspect you can’t codex, lightning storm is just subpar / even worse than pulverize on ST`
Shred aoe clear is a joke and finally landslide is the only decent -out of the box- dps with terramote passive (but again, zero aoe unless you luck out on non-codex aspects.
If I have trouble falling asleep I just create a new druid alt and start the leveling process, I’m asleep in minutes.

I’ve leveled ok on the druid and I’m playing as a human only druid. If you want spirit take skills that give it to you and items as well. I do recall damage in the earlier levels being a problem for bosses however was able to push though it fairly well. Landslide I found to be my bread and butter, basically because I got the affix that causes it to hit twice at X dmg more. Boulder is good if you can get the leg that makes it a core skill and increase it’s dmg 200%. (put on main wep). I didn’t get this until Tier IV though sadly.
The class isn’t for everyone but it can be fun. There are a couple of S tier builds for the druid, (not mine). If you want a power house the option is there.
Don’t be stupid ok?
To the op, ya Druid leveling is painful at first. You really need to play smart. It gets much better later though.
So what you’re saying is, because I started as a druid my alts will be easier to level?

Depending on your build, sometimes a one hander and totem is better, you attack faster to generate Spirit to be able to launch out the spender better. I mained a druid in this game but do agree, it was rough at some points, but it is a playstyle I really enjoy. Mostly staying in melee range and dishing out tornados.
indeed it is crap at early levels the only thing i found worth was landslide even without legos and poison creeper the problem is that most builds are locked behind legos like pulverizer which is not fun if you have enough spirit sustain to spam it and tornado is useless without relying on grizly which is locked in legos+uniques for werewolf
Honestly none of what you said is true.
I made a thread debunking all the nonsense you just spewed out due to people on the druid forum constantly crying about how they “suck, painful to level, slow” etc…
Maybe learn 2 play?

Storm Strike with +base attack speed (on amu +23,5%) and extra -20% DMG taken (on gloves) legenadary affixe, and than the lightning nova legendary affixe.
Together with your skill passives on extra lightning DMG, this is enough to carry through the content in world tier 2.
As extra button, raven, poinsion creeper, wolf and zylon Armor (with the legendary affixe from dungeon).
Druid has a smooth sailing in leveling, and with +XX movement speed after crit, even his walking speed becomes acceptable.
Agreed.
Also I don’t want to “tell people how to have fun” but all these arguments are based on the concept that
- the easier it is to play the game, the better
- the faster it is to level, the better
- the whole point of diablo 4 is to play it as briefly as possible and get to the highest level as fast as possible
If that’s your jam, fine. But a lot of people might be reading thinking “well I won’t play druid” well personally I love the class because it’s a fun blend of tank, damage and buff. It’s varied. It’s cool and unique to shapeshift. And for its of other non-meta reasons.

Whether it’s slow and boring or not depends what build you’re running. For maybe 1-30 pulverize is really fun, because an overpowered pulverize will squash everything, even the regular ones will do a ton of damage. Past that it starts to feel weak and slow. Not really surprising since the bear is really damn slow, so once it stops one tapping everything, it’s pretty dull.
I swapped out to a storm strike/tornado/hurricane build instead. Closing in on 50 now and it still breezes through content, moreover it does in a fashion that is fun and dynamic to play (feels that way to me at least).
Suffice to say the druid class is not terrible, you just need to find a build that works for you.

You are playing it wrong. I love my druid and i am level 51 destroying mobs with ease in dungeons and real world.

level 78 and still loving it, switch the the end game Pulverize spec and its smashing T4 content.
Early game druid you need to play with tons of legendary + companion tornado build. Basically you use companion to boost your attack of your tornado. This build contains two defensive skills and will make you deal good damage while not dying everywhere, etc the butcher
Druid is fun but terrible at the same time. Early game is a pain, late game is resource management nightmare so I never feel I get above the power curve. I don’t play a meta build though so perhaps this is my fault.
I did roll a barb and was actually shocked at the power of that class and that their channel ability gives resource back. In comparison to barb, the druid has way less resource ability management skills.
After 50 it’s not that bad but 1-50 felt slow for sure. I’m really having a great experience but I’m level 87 and have all the uniques except the werewolf axe
