I spent an a HOUR trying to kill quest boss

And it is not even an end quest boss !!
It is a Mother’s Judgement
Lv 45 so far, 2 world lvl.
Ice shards(5), FN(5), blizzard(8), and I came to this build on my own, played beta etc. just like it. Got a few rare items but nothing what could really boost.

My question is - is this how blizzard see the way we should play ? What I’m, playing dark souls ?
She just kills me in a few shots and I really tired running around her, trying to avoid her blasts just to get my hp back. Seriously ? Dying constantly on a single boss during my weekend - totally what I was looking in Diablo, sure.
Go on, nerf sorc more blizzard…

P.s. Sure, killed her, just switched to hydra and run hiding behind pillars around her for a five minutes, it’s just annoying

I’m only at 34 or something; but it seems sorcerer can cheese every fight in the game with Ice storm, flame wall and hydra. Ice armor on passive is amazing, too. Just have to dodge the stuff on the ground and you can’t lose, in most cases - except the Butcher, who’s stupid.

Sorc in betas was fun no matter how you choose to play. Hydra, frost bolt, chain lightning, you name it. Now it is so broken there is only one “proper” way to play. I won’t say what skills cause they might nerf it next. Someone called it a glass pea shooter and it’s the best way to describe sorc right now.

While sorc definitely isn’t an automatic powerhouse, you shouldn’t struggle too much with bosses at your level. Put aspect of control in your amulet, keep blizzard up on boss and cast nova on it to increase it’s stagger bar.

You should delete most bosses during stagger. I reccommend also getting the aspect that gives 15 mana by using a cooldown and boosting chill while barrier active (passive talent - and also nice for trash). That’s worked well for me. I don’t know of any other ice shards sorcerers deleting bosses just from damage. I’d love to hear a build that can kill bosses quickly without stagger in leveling builds.

Definitely not a powerhouse. But I’m finding that burn works well, especially with the stacking of multiple abilities.

Why are you playing on World Tier 2? Seems strange, if you think the game is too hard.

I assume you are running Ice barrier and have the aspect that adds another barrier when you hit an elite or boss? They make a big different IMO.

imagine this boss as a barb or something that doesn’t have selfheal outside of consistently jugging pots one after another. its not an end boss and its in the middle of the WT yet crazy overtuned. should be nerfed ASAP. even as a ranged player this is just BM from Blizz.

It appears some monster types have considerable frost resistance, even in T2.

You can’t do your own build in D4, sadly. They game is built around being hyper efficient and synergistic from the get go. I recommend you look at the ice shard build on icy veins’ website. I’m level 46 and wrecking things.

I just got done this fight as a sorcerer at level 42 on WT2 and definitely think that the fight needs tuning. I was getting 1-2 shot and died several times. It seems the damage output is pretty high. You can use Lorath to block some of the shots from the boss, but it still seems way too hard for a simple story fight. Hopefully someone can look at it to see if it’s tuned properly.

Edit: I was also using a frost build.

I’m here now and the fight is just silly at t2. i’m using a perfectly epitomized build and she can basically two shot me in less than a second. Her damage output on t2 is ridiculous.

This is a story quest, damage from enemies shouldn’t be gibbing people

I remember killing that boss yesterday and only took me about 5 minutes, Unstable Currents and Frost Nova vulnerability node really makes bosses go down quick. Was able to do every Stronghold so far with no deaths or close deaths. I do however have a chest legendary that lets me heal per second per mob around me up to like 100 per second. So getting that would help everyone.

I one shot that boss yesterday at lvl 24ish. Wearing just rares - nothing special, though I keep armor that have synergy with my build (i.e. don’t equip an item just because it has higher ilvl if stats are bad). Took about a minute. Longest part of the fight was waiting for her to summon more.

That’s one of those back handed red herring suggestions. The question was not what skill level should be played about about class balance.

Nobody is forcing you to play wt2 with a specific spec. It’s not a “game” issue. It’s a “you” issue.

What is this mindset, if the scaling screws you over it isn’t even a “you”-issue but more of a game issue.

Well first off that build sounds like garbage against bosses, you’re spending lots of mana for very little damage. I would recommend something like Chain Lightning + Recharging Aspect + Invigorating Conduit, Hydra, or Arc Lash + Unstable Currents.

Unfortunately many classes have only a few viable builds, and even fewer than are good before the end game. You really need to play an optimized early game build to handle world tier 2, especially as a squishy class that relies entirely on potions for healing.

Beta made me so excited for D4 that I purchased the ultimate edition for several friends so we could all play together. I was 100% set on the sorc before the nerf and afterwards I was in shock at how bad the class became. Whomever is “balancing” the classes right now, does not put any effort or time into actually playing the game before making these changes go live.

One word my man, barriers.
