So, I just converted 180k Shattered Stone into Obols and bought 300 amulets. This is what I got.
3/4 items for my build: 0
4/4 items for my class: 0
3/4 items for my class: 0
max rolled aspects for my build: 1 (Conceited so I could use it)
max rolled aspects for my class: 3 (Blighted, Rathma’s Chosen, Frenzied Dead lol)
I know it’s RNG but 300 is a large enough sample size to be relevant. It goes to show how terrible the odds are to get useful attributes on amulets. I should have tracked the number of items with contradicting stats, too. It feels like the vast majority has combinations like Summoning Skill Damage + Sacrificial aspect.
Don’t get me wrong. This post isn’t supposed to be overly negative. I’m sure the S4 patch will improve things. I just wanted to raise awareness.
True, I used an amulet with movement speed+movement speed after killing an elite+wind striker for farming on my BS Necro last season. Banished Lord’s isn’t great except for bossing or T100.
On barb, you hardly notice not having movement speed on that slot…
I was level 85 and still using an amulet from world tier 1 because of bad itemization and guided rng, whenever I want to roll something I just take points out of what I want and it works every time
i usualy use the “gambling” to get some missing aspects in to start a build or finished it, things like that but that doesnt seem possible this season, im getting everything what i not need … bad rng i guess
Diablo 4 has good merchant merchandise. D3 it’s 100% junk. The trade off is you can gamble for primals. It would be like buying 400 caps here and getting a shako.
I have all my aspects and full 925 gear. Those Shattered Stones where good for nothing else. /shrug
why would you just not run vaults for gear? 925 gear in 70+ NMV drop like rain
What do you think why I had 180k Shattered Stone?
Regardless, what you get from the vendor is representative of what drops. The point was how many of those 300 amulets where useful.
Oh no. I get ya. The wasted stones issue is a bit disconcerting. They should have done something else than obols with them because those who have excess most likely have better or the best gear than what comes From the obols guy.
My only point was that gambling obols and expecting to get better/best gear is not appropriate as the purveyor is only for aspects.
The whole
Is 100% completely expected. If you got any usable gear from the purveyor i would have been more surprised.
You were right to gamble on Amulets.
Looking for a BASE ITEM - not Aspects in late game - Rings and Amulets are what Obols should ideally be spent on.
Gloves as well I suppose since IP doesn’t affect their scaling in any way outside of base armor(minus Aspect scaling ofc but that’s not the discussion).
There’s zero difference between Curio Vendor, Standard items vendors and world drops - just some arbitrary IP throttling.
It sucks to read that out of 300 nothing panned out for you.
That’s pretty atrocious item design with confetti affixes we know and love.
Seems to me they could build a crafting solution that allows players to refine/build items at high cost. At the point of end game not much else to do but min/max.
