I really want tempering to no longer brick items in Season 4

Bricked my first Triple bonus affix piece of armor through crap tempering rolls & I can say it is a disgustingly horrible feeling when an item so rare is now rendered unusable for a particular build. Blizzard needs to create a droppable item that allows you to clear faulty tempering for a fee & crafting material. I agree this has to change it is infuriating.

We just need to go back to browsing 1000’s of items looking for a 5/5, apparently that didn’t bother anyone since they had no control over what you got.

Last season I went from about level 85 to 100 and changed pretty much nothing. I finished the season with 850’ish to 903 gear. This season I’m in full 925 gear that is pretty dang good and change an item at least once a week with even better. Keep complaining about what is actually a pretty good system, and maybe we will go back to the previous
way and then you won’t have to worry about not getting a good temper roll.

What an incredibly obtuse point of view >.<

Idiots will be idiots lol. I couldn’t agree more with the notion that this weak excuse for a functional temper system is even acceptable to release in anything other than a Beta landscape. I’ve farmed DOZENS and DOZENS of hours to get 2 / 3GA items for end game content, just to brick them on a single temper attempt, not even min/maxing for high roll tempers. It’s ludicrous.

A function that has been baked into end game content should never seemingly rely on addiction of players to be the determining factor in accessing said end game content, in terms of whoever endures the most bricks will ā€œearnā€ you the possibility to attempt end game content. It’s borderline sociopathic lol. I take it as a complete lack of consideration and smack to the face to force a broken systems use for any content, but especially NEW end game content.

It’s utter garbage and takes away from the experience of the game while adding zero fruitful experience to it, it’s literally the equivalent of ā€œbusy workā€ and definitely not a desired experience when I choose to spend time gaming. I literally just un-installed this game ENTIRELY because of the grossly mismanaged implementation of the wasted bits that is Diablo 4’s tempering system. I might get heat but whatevs, I hope whoever developed/approved that garbo got fired >.> lol

ā€œThe system feels good because of RNG.ā€

Bro, pass the copium, for real.

There are already SEVERAL layers of RNG that you’ve had to get through to even be at the point of having a 2-3GA item worth tempering in the first place… Like, are you serious?

The drop itself, with the right stats, with greater affixes, with greater affixes on the right stats, and so on.

You’re looking at dozens of hours of played time per drop, at that point, and you’re sitting here defending the part where ā€œlol it’s fineeeeeeeeeā€ if that ample time and energy investment now goes straight into the trash because you have to nail a 1 in 5 chance TWICE on a single piece of gear (which you then have to repeat upwards of 3-4 times!), while also having no control over the range it rolls, either…?

As of this post, I have pushed Pit 100+ on every single class, while leveling 10 toons (2 of each class) to max, and I can count the number of 3GA pieces I’ve seen drop on one hand… In hundreds of hours played.

None of which had desirable stats, either, so they were junk before we even got TO the magical land of milk and honey-flavored tempering that you seem to think exists.

FOH, seriously.

Getting your tempers right isn’t BIS.

This is just about getting the right tempers. And it is much harder than it needs to be, with irrevocably destruction of an item you spend weeks to farm.

I can only agree, for the same reasons.

Raxx made a good suggestion the other day I thought (iirc):

  1. You roll for tempering.
  2. You get offered all the possible stats… just at various values (or you can opt to keep the existing one).

That way, you can choose whether you want to reroll for a higher % roll or save mats and move on to the next item. But you never lose a good roll or item. Worst case, you get a low roll… but still your preferred stat.

Which is needed because of how ā€œsimplifiedā€ loot is. They dropped it down to 3/5 so people didnt need a loot filter. There is also a an actual hunt for loot and progression.

The entire purpose of an arpg is the loot hunt. When an item drops its incomplete. You have the ability to customize your gear attempting to get the 5/5 you’re looking for. BIS items are supposed to be rare and sure sometimes it doesnt work out but when it does it feels great because of RNG.

Ive gotten about a dozen myself dont know how many hours I have in S4 but Im still engaged because of the loot hunt. If its not there it becomes a weekend seasonal game like D3.

Ok, so you havnt found anything for your build. Thats okay. Remember you also have the ability to trade items now.

No one wants to play an arpg past 1 week with instant gratification. BIS is not supposed to be a guarantee nor getting a 5/5. RNG is why people play arpgs.

The system in place is far superior previous iterations. I still look at my 3ga offhand that had two perfect tempering rolls with excitement because its a BIS perfect 5/5.

You cant have wins without losses or there really is no point. On drop items are incomplete and are only complete after you temper to see if you have the 3/5, 4/5 or 5/5. There is also minimal cost to tempering. It only costs a couple mats.

Tho the one thing they should add is keep previous roll but the limits are needed and shouldnt be changed.

Yes I know RNG is a culture shock mechanism for anyone who only played D3.
