I really hope the trial and gauntlet announcing tomorrow for S3 will have rewards worth grinding for

Have you tried PoE ? don’t wait till PoE 2 because rumor GGG is going to make PoE 2 more accessible and easier as a whole. But PoE everyone is saying it is difficult .

No, I don’t, but then again I don’t pay any attention to the chat, busy with more important things then who is saying what

doing raids does not make it an MMO
I was always under the impression that MMO stood for
massively multiplayer online or so the dictionary claims
so please educate me how Diablo 4 isn’t like that and how doing raids have anything to do with the definition

POE just dint run well for me. 1 shots galore. Never ran super smooth like D4 mostly does. It stuttered many times. There was just too much going on. Too many procs. Too much of everything. Too bloated. 99% worthless uniques.
Nobody to this day knows how betrayal works. Even the devs. Once they nerfed animate weapon into the ground it killed me from enjoying game.

Yes I have and couldn’t stand it from the beginning and never been back
and it wasn’t the difficulty, it was the complexity of everything

your definition of MMO is correct. There are MMO-LIKE elements in D4 such as World boss, trade chat , open world map, overworld activities etc…

But I think the difference in comprehension comes from if you had ever played any real MMO before. I played WoW for over a decade and it is pretty much the god father of all MMO. You have group finder, guild interactions (not like the clan we have in Diablo 4), dungeon are group mandatory, usually cannot solo. Raid obviously mandates coordination with other players , again not soloable unless it is legacy raid , meaning outdated raids that you may be able to solo.

So, a true MMO needs to have several key elements to define it being a MMO. D4 is still defined as a aRPG with some mmo elements added to it.

But blizz being the company that created the god father of MMO like WoW. I trust them knowing how to make MMO . So, if they want to add raid into D4, I think they will know how, because they can always consult with WoW team .

Definitely doesn’t cater to the casual crowd that’s for sure, but they made it specifically that way on purpose. Devs wanted a more number crunching game for a very niche audience, and they succeeded, quite well I might add. Now granted PoE has never had the player numbers of any Diablo game, but the devs have stated they are perfectly fine with that.

I like the game, but I also know how intimidating the game is from the start. It rewards knowledge, but not experimentation in order to get that knowledge. You can easily tank your build early on and be stuck at the endgame with no easy way to fix it. For anyone who loved D3 and has never tried PoE, I would definitely not recommend it.

Yup, that is why I never played it even though it is free LOL.

But after watching Johnathan several interviews on PoE 2, it seems like PoE 2 will offer a fresh new start to the franchise. Devs want fresh blood, they going to try and simplify the game and keep some depth, but avoid complexity. I am eager to see how that will play out.

It’s looking good from what I’ve seen so far, but that’s just off of first impressions, won’t know until we actually get our hands on the game. I have the feeling it will be a mix between PoE and LE right now. Less depth then PoE, but not as simple as LE. I still feel LE is a nice middle ground between PoE and D4 though. I know people don’t like the game on here, so I’ll just keep it at that.

IF POE2 fixes the errors of POE1 and D4 continues its visionless trudge then D4 is dead and POE2 will be the new killer app but that is a big mountain to climb. POE 1 became a huge mess. LE is not going to do it. It cant even keep its servers running.

D4 will get better, it has gotten better tremendously since launch LOL… just need a few more seasons to get all the QoL and more end game improvements haha. This happened with D3 as well. It seems like a growing trend with blizz…

Ya know you’re just dead wrong about that. Guess you stopped playing D3 before it got better. Sets were an I can “compete” button not an I can “win”. Its true they dominate the game but you’re only getting started when you have a complete set. The paragon system is crude I agree but the endless part does give folks something to keep grinding when the season objectives are done. Calling it an arcade game while continuing to play this one tells me you really don’t see they how they are the same game just no sets (yet)

completely agree with you evok… thank you for sharing my thoughts !

PoE 1 definitely needs to look at some of its older mechanics and just get rid of them. They kept older systems in the game from what worked in previous leagues, then something better came along and they never changed the older ones. It’s like upgrading your house to central air-conditioning, but keeping the old furnace inside the house hooked up to the gas line, get rid of that crap lol.

At this point I think GGG is just going to leave PoE 1 as it is. There is a niche group of players really digging that and they don’t want to upset them for changing anything too much. PoE 2 will be their new start, new target audience and hopefully, it will be really really good.

I don’t need it to be D3 kind of simple, but I personally prefer simplicity over complexity , as you can probably tell by now LOL. But, going the simplicity route will inevitably get you more sales for sure.

I hope there’s no Loot dropping until the end(AoZ or chest) or it’s just a speed trial with glyph xp or whatever.

Believe they mentioned there was no loot what so ever. You just collect the “Proofs of Might” which adds to your score. Highest score gets the top spot on the LB.

I played S30 in 4 hours I was max level with a set 700 paragon doing gr 100+. D3 is a joke.

Sets were absolutely an I win button. Once you got one everything was trivial.

D3 was an arcade game it failed in every sense to be an arpg. Some people enjoyed that and thats ok. I want D4 to be an arpg.

Not everyone can clear nmd 90+. I can farm nmd lvl 37-40, so do many casual players. I might never ever see duriel in game because I don’t spend too much time playing D4.
If you are bored, find another thing to do instead of D4. Blizzard has already shown us multiple times they have their own goals for this game, they want more money for sure and it’s ok, so do many other companies in the world.
