I really don't understand - is this ARPG just not for me?

There’s a pretty stark difference in balance between classes/builds right now. I really hope Blizz starts buffing some things soon instead of just nerfing. Luckily I ended up going rogue first so I didn’t really have a slog like others, but I’m having trouble finding motivation to level the other classes so I can figure out which one I actually enjoy playing at endgame.

My rogue gets through with ease with it’s current build, but it’s not a build I actually enjoy playing. Ranged options are significantly lower powered, and that is extremely disappointing to me as I just don’t generally enjoy melee builds in any game.

But, since none of the builds I’d like to play are currently any good, I’m going to wait until my husband and I hit level 100 on our first characters to lvl alts. Then we’ll just power level each other and hope we can find a decent build we actually enjoy once we skip them into the mid game range. It really isn’t until that point where a build truly comes online to even know if you actually like it.

End game is boring too, there is something seriously lacking in this game and it just might be that the “fun” is missing…

Im playing a sorc currently about lvl 38, WT1, just about to start act 3, playing my own build i made myself. It hasnt been a slog, it feels just right. Ever since about level 5, my killing speed has been pretty consistent so far. Due to the scaling and my gear progression the killing speed has neither sped up nor slowed down even the issues with mana has not gone away but im finding myself preferring this over blasting through mobs and bosses or struggling with normal mobs. Died 3 times so far, it feels just right for me. It may just be due to perception, to you this type of gameplay is a slog to others like me, its not.

The game has a bot of a learning curve. I have a level 20 sorcerer and it kills stuff very easily. Same withy barb, who is 54.

One mechanic in particular you really shouldn’t ignore is stagger for bosses. Every class really should add some cc to their builds so they can stagger the bosses. It stunes them and opens up huge damage windows for you to exploit. Don’t choose slightly higher damage over your cc. Or even defenses in a lot of cases.

Buddy, it for sure is easy. There isn’t a single thing in this game that could be considered a challenge at all. However, everything the big man/women talked about. He is spot on. You spend 70 percent of the game waking, and the other 20 percent using your builder skill left clicking trying to get your resource back. Game is unbearable.

Diablo 4 is a lot like the last few Star Wars movies, lots of expectations, debate about how good/bad it was, still made billions.

bud im the same with necro doing shadow and its so slow

You’re in luck! They just announced 3 more star wars movies are being made with Rey as the lead.

Best way to play campaing, skip any trash and elite mobs, and only rush the bosses.

The lower you level at a boss, so more easy the boss fight will be.

So XP only slow you overall.

Finish campaing, get the mount, than collect the altars, and go to a sport were you can easy farm trash for level 50, until you get your first paragon glyph, which boost 1 single dmg source up to 300% (check 15-30% extra dmg for +5 int/dex modi and your first board)

After you got this single dmg source, you start to grind your way through dungeons.

Completely and utterly untrue. I have played three characters up through the early levels and no specific build was necessary. May be different in the end but early on, other than just being silly with what you choose, anything is a go.

Yes you are supposed to start out fairly weak and get progressively stronger.

Yea but you start out weak and get a lot weaker lol

Tier one doesn’t count anyone can run thru that content, do some nightmare dungeons and get back to us

Feel free to read what was being replied to before you wag your tongue, because what is coming out is pure…

Here, I will even help. Magic words, “while levelling”.

80-100 is also leveling and from the streaming community it’s a lot worse then, early levels are easy in every game but you get stronger in other games you seem to get weaker in D4 specially if u can’t find those specific legendaries that are the only reason a build works

And my response qualified, “early parts of levelling” and “may be different in the end”.

So your response was complete and utter garbage with you trying to twist things to ignore what was written by the OP and me in response.

“While levelling” covers the entire process yes, I spoke to what could be done during part of it. Guess what…1-79 is part of the process.

No one cares about early levels u can literally go 1-50 in a few hours

You’re trying to ignore that people do get to experiment with builds and figure out what works best.

Persist in this, but I am fine with others being able to weight what I have written versus what you have.

Whole point is experimenting with builds pre 50 is pointless because the mobs jump so much in scale after that

Are you being disingenuous on purpose?

The entire point I’m trying to make is that levelling to the supposed good bits, is extremely boring. I don’t want to rush a new diablo game; I want to explore, play the campaign, do side content. It is all made extremely tedious by the combat design (at least to me so far)
