I re-installed Diablo 3 and everything looks so much better. Even though there’s less detail in the character models and equipment, they actually look so much better. It may be that the camera is zoomed out further, but my characters look so much better in game. The spell effects look better, and the environments, although i think the graphics are lower quality, they all look so much better.
How could this happen? Was there not a point during development where Blizzard thought “yeah, this all looks much worse than D3, let’s stop spending money and just use those graphics.”
At the very least, they could zoom the camera out more, that’d help a little. it’d also make the game feel better to play.
Probably just personal preference. Visually and Graphically D4 is far superior not only to d3 but to all current arpg out right now. However, I myself do like the more vibrant colors that D3 have. But I have only been to a couple of places in D4. Maybe the other zones and future areas will have more colors on them.
Negative. All of Diablo 4 will be many times darker or monotone/mute than the zones in Diablo 3.
Diablo 4’s “Return to Darkness” specifically refers to returning to the more gothic tone that Diablo 1 and 2 were designed around. Diablo 3’s typical Blizzard-esque cartoonish approach was a mistake and the developers are avoiding it.
